Self isolation - re start the 7 days?

My husband has been to have a Covid 19 test today, he has a cough, no temp, no other symptoms, feels fine.
He is self isolating in our bedroom, his cough started Sunday, it’s quite mild, gets a bit worse then goes off and don’t hear him cough for ages, I know the nhs rule is isolate for 7 days even if the cough isn’t gone, but as he has only been tested today does he need to start the 7 days as of today? Or still as of let’s say last Monday latest?
Only says about staying in isolation if you still have a temp but as he hasn’t had one at all the info has confused me a little
Thanks all
