Neighbour running hairdressers from her house

My neighbour is a hairdresser, she has a salon in town which is obviously closed at the moment. I’ve noticed lots of cars coming and going to hers over the last few weeks which has annoyed me but I’ve not said or done anything just carried on following the lockdown rules. I was putting the bins out last week and she had her back door open and I thought I could have seen someone sitting in her kitchen with a hairdressing gown on but then one of the DC shouted me and I thought no more of it, but it’s particularly warm here today and she has her back door open and we’ve been in the garden all morning and I’ve seen 2 people come stay about an hour and leave. She sweeps up kitchen in between, I’m assuming they’re having their hair cut but don’t know for sure. She lives with her partner who is bald so it wasn’t him I saw with hairdressing gown on. Should I report her to someone, have a word with her? No previous issues, normal neighbourly interactions.

Keep your nose out

A protest in Michigan where a woman is protesting because she can't get her hair done

Seems to be happening all over!

Another one with roots that need doing here! Please tell me where she is!

Seriously though I’d be more worried about her clients - how seriously they’re taking the other rules and advice if they’re willing to break social distancing like that. I’m sure she is trying to be as clean as possible but she doesn’t know her clients are!

Don't keep your nose out OP. Don't listen to the people saying this. I'm not sure what is wrong with them but the guidlines are clear, clear as bloody day! You shouldn't have anyone that doesn't live in your house, in your house unless it's for essential repairs and social distancing is implemented.

She's also running a business, a salon, so I assume has furloughed herself and staff and could have benefitted from grants for her business but see's fit to make some extra money by totally going against every guidline in place. I do think mumsnet think this is all a bloody laugh. Open the schools! Picnic wherever you want! Hairdressers carry on! Good on that midwife breaking guidelines and bonking randons off tinder! It's actually all a bit sickening to be honest. Maybe they will wise up and grow up when they have someone close to them on a ventilator like some of us have had to experience due to others selfish attitudes. You'd think this was a forum for 5 year olds that will do anything to go against what they've been asked to do. Oh I forgot though, it makes you look cool and hipstery to be blase on here 👍

englishrosie · 21/04/2020 20:08

Selfish vain bitch here Grin

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 21/04/2020 20:09

Woof!

IceCreamWaffles · 21/04/2020 20:14

One of my colleagues (professionally trained) has offered to give me a trim on our lunchbreak - has already done a few others.

My concern is the hate I'll get from people when walking about with a freshly trimmed barnet!

The80sweregreat · 21/04/2020 20:23

It's obvious people will flout the laws.
It is stupid and irresponsible but people have kicked against rules since the Stone Age.
It's not right in this case but her friends have decided it's worth the risk. It is depressing but not surprising.

Soontobe60 · 21/04/2020 20:27

If she has a salon she's probably claiming all sorts of money for not working, she's most likely being paid cash, so not paying tax. She's a CF!

The80sweregreat · 21/04/2020 20:34

Yeah, I bet she is furlonging the staff and now getting cash for under the mattress!
Maybe another neighbour will report her!

Spied · 21/04/2020 20:34

Report her. She'll be claiming.

LivingOnAnIsland · 21/04/2020 20:41

Report, definitely.

userxx · 21/04/2020 20:46

@Spied Claiming what? You do know self employed people are allowed to work?

englishrosie · 21/04/2020 20:48

*Furlonging the staff
*
... it's furlough.

userxx · 21/04/2020 20:58

Yeah, I bet she is furlonging the staff and now getting cash for under the mattress!

What?

The80sweregreat · 21/04/2020 20:59

Furlough sorry! I meant she may be getting the cash incentives for any staff and also getting cash in hand from these private clients!

The80sweregreat · 21/04/2020 21:00

.. I've no idea of course!
Just a wild guess.

userxx · 21/04/2020 21:04

@The80sweregreat Her staff may well be furloughed, but she's still allowed to work herself if she's self employed. Self employed people won't be receiving any government help until June.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 21/04/2020 21:06

FFS. If we leave aside the impact on key workers and their health (which should be more than enough reason) we (and our frickin' grandchildren probably) are going to be paying for this lockdown in taxes for decades. The more the rules are flouted they longer it all goes on and the more it costs us all.

teenagetantrums · 21/04/2020 21:09

Just ignore. It doesn't effect you. Lockdown is is to slow spread of virus. There are empty hospital beds. When lockdown lifted many more of us are going to get virus anyway.

The80sweregreat · 21/04/2020 21:10

I do understand why she is doing it. I'm sure lots of people are flouting the rules. People need to pay bills.
However, as pointed out already, it means lockdown could go on for longer etc. It's selfish behaviour but then I'm not in her shoes or know how desperate she is for cash or whatever. I bet she isn't the only one doing this either.

Queeftastic · 21/04/2020 21:18

Seriously? Police?
You've made some massive assumptions here, that she's taking money and her "customers" are there for vanity reasons.

Some keyworkers need to have their hair a certain way for their jobs, whether it's short for operational reasons or "professional-looking" for the dignity required in their role. She might have already had covid in the house and be offering free cuts to NHS frontliners. Nurses in China gave their hair a good chop as PPE can cause real problems in that area.

shesgrownhorns · 21/04/2020 21:18

Can't find a black market hairdresser round here for love nor money. Get yourself over there post haste before some nosey bastard shops her.
