Are people dying because of the advice to stay away from hospitals?

I've seen a couple of reports recently that seem to suggest young people, who would have assumed they were low risk, didn't get help when they should have.

The people who are dying at home, surely you don't go from a nasty cough to so much difficulty breathing you're going to die in a timescale that would prevent you getting to hospital?

Is the advice to stay away from hospitals putting lives at unnecessary risk?

A friend says he feels like there's a heavy weight on his chest this morning. I'm worried.
