You are the problem. The rules are simple. Go out and exercise and then go home. Just that, nothing more than that.

To be fair then problem is actually bigger than that and has been brewing for years as we increasingly become a country with rules but almost everyone has an excuse for why that rule shouldn’t apply to them/their child/family.

Possibly but food shopping is a necessity and sitting in the park isn't, so, if you are going to take risks surely it is better to minimise the number of times you do it.

Eh? You are meant to wash you hands and pay attention to hygiene. Whether the trip is essential or not, you will pick up covid, if you don't bother washing your hands. The problem there is with the person not washing their hands.

Remember if someone catches it off a bench its because they sat on it too. So someone sits on a bench and leaves covid, a second person comes along and quickly rubs their hands all over the bench and then doesn't wash them....the problem is with the persone rubbing a bench and mot washing their hands. They will catch all sorts, not just Covid.

Taken from Runner's World

What are the current rules when it comes to exercise in the UK?
Daily exercise, including walking, running, cycling, tending to an allotment or doing yoga is allowed.
You are allowed to drive somewhere to take your exercise. The guidance says, ‘it is lawful to drive for exercise.’ However, ‘Driving for a prolonged period with only brief exercise’ is also deemed ‘not likely to be reasonable’. The rule of thumb? You’re allowed to drive somewhere to go for a walk or run as long as you spend much more time walking than you do driving.
Exercising more than once per day is likely to be allowed if you have a ‘reasonable excuse’ for needing to leave your home.
You are allowed to sit and take a break from exercise, say, on a bench or sitting down in a park. However, this must be for a short time only and, as before, you must spend markedly more time exercising than resting

You're welcome!!.

Uts actuslly a lot less then that seeing as you are wrong. New guidelines allows this. If you arent remotely near anyone else in the area how us it spreading anything?
Tbh the rise in the self appointed stazj as moral.protectors of the world are more of a worrying problem and quite frankly terrifying in thier rabid race to denounce anyone that doesnt conform to the rules they just made up.

glueandstick · 21/04/2020 16:40

Fucking hell. Another thread. It’s like people NEED TO TELL OTHER PEOPLE WHAT TO DO YOU MUST STAY SAFE AND DO EXACTLY WHAT I SAY!!!!!!!!!! (You need a lot of exclamation marks)

The lock down I can deal with.
The virus I can deal with.

But fuck me, the petty minded people coming out and the righteous do gooders and the informing on neighbours... this is just too much.

hammeringinmyhead · 21/04/2020 16:52

Who are all these people supposedly lovingly stroking the bench they're about to sit down on?

nightswimmers · 21/04/2020 16:53

Well, that went well, didn't it OP?

BirdieFriendReturns · 21/04/2020 16:56

I believe that it was hearhoovesthinkzebras who was on a deleted post on this forum. They were literally sobbing and shaking as they posted on a thread about shopping. The OP was also crying apparently and they tried to out-do each other with emotions.

Perhaps it’s time for a break from Mumsnet?

U2HasTheEdge · 21/04/2020 16:57

I am about to go on a dog walk.

It's a bit chilly now, but I plan to sit by the river again for a while. I won't eat crisps though and I will try to have a miserable time.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 21/04/2020 16:59

Oh, but what are you going to do if the dogs decide to roll in the grass?

MH1111 · 21/04/2020 17:01

Is it all crisps you can’t eat, or just certain flavours?

What about other snacks? Is there an approved list of chocolate bars you can eat whilst out/sitting on a bench?

Standing up and eating snacks is ok?

We need a government minster to look into this!

SpokeTooSoon · 21/04/2020 17:02

What will all these snitches and curtain-twitchers do with themselves when lockdown is over?

Spend their days in supermarket car parks watching the P&C spaces for violations I presume...

LaurieMarlow · 21/04/2020 17:03

A bag of cracked black pepper kettle chips might be just about ok.

Definitely no pleb flavours though. Or lidl knock offs Grin

BillywilliamV · 21/04/2020 17:05

You are all utter, utter, utter, UTTER BASTARDS!

Cant be arsed reading another one of these threads..

U2HasTheEdge · 21/04/2020 17:06

Oh, but what are you going to do if the dogs decide to roll in the grass?

Hmm, I will try really hard not to lick them!

maria860 · 21/04/2020 17:06

Really worried of what these people who are so worried about everyone else will do when this lockdown is eased and they can't complain anymore it's boring now.
We're literally told 24 hours a day on tv the radio the papers social media STAY at home its all I hear about now we've got all these busy bodies prying on people's lives and we aren't allowed to sit in a park and who do we think we are having the audacity to sit in a park two metres from everyone else! Honestly get a grip of yourself worry about yourself and what's going on under your own roof instead of nitpicking at everyone so boring now.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 21/04/2020 17:06

LaurieMarlow

You've been saying that people don't need to do anything unless it's law. So I'm wondering where you stand on handwashing - which isn't the law either. Not unreasonable to ask you if your stance of "don't follow the guidance, only the law" extends across the board is it?

MH1111 · 21/04/2020 17:07

Absolutely no share packs!

Snitchy bacon is my favourite flavour 😁

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 21/04/2020 17:09

Well, you believe wrong. It categorically wasn't me that said that. Kindly stop posting untruths about me.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 21/04/2020 17:26

They were literally sobbing and shaking as they posted on a thread about shopping

Well i dont know who it was but ive just seen you were the poster joking about it Grin

BirdieFriendReturns · 21/04/2020 17:32

Hearhoovesthinkzebras - it was this post www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3863275-Exercising-outdoors-more-than-once-a-day-is-not-illegal?pg=6&order= which was deleted as it turned into a bun fight.

We were discussing it at the time on a Reddit forum. You were upset and sobbing because people were buying things you didn’t approve of in a supermarket.

“And the mascara? And the dog treats? And the chocolate?

It all adds to the time you're in the shop and the time to get through checkout and it's more things that you've handled. All of that is more opportunity for either you to catch the virus or for you to infect others.

There's just no point is there?

You obviously aren't bothered of you catch it or give it to someone else so crack on. I hope none of you are shocked when we emulate Italy and Spain in a few weeks because that is where we are heading.”

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 21/04/2020 17:35

Hmm, I will try really hard not to lick them!

That’s clearly your decision, just remember licking digs can be as bad as smoking and it can put people in Dagestan. I’m surprised there is no law against it.

MintyMabel · 21/04/2020 17:35

That's exactly what those of us shielding are expected not do. We're just expected to manage our mental.health.

So the rest of us not in the shielding category should also shield? Because you are and it’s affecting your mental health? Or should we go out and protect our mental health so the vital services which are there to help those with mental health issues aren’t also swamped and not available to you? You are in because the risk to you is high and the consequences are higher. We can go out because al though the risk is the same, the consequences are far lower. You are in to protect you, we are in but can also go out with some restriction to protect you and also ourselves.

But to answer the other question, no, I’m not afraid I will catch CV through my arse by sitting on a bench.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/04/2020 17:38

Oh fgs
Sitting and having a picnic, even sunbathing, is not infecting anyone if you keep a few metres away from everyone

I live by the Rhine in Germany and we have always had the lone people sitting one per bench, or sunbathing, or a family picnicking on the grass

The police come by daily and let them be; they just have a word with any cyclists speeding too near pedestrians
Light touch, no rules about how often or how long to exercise

We were told to look after vulnerable family members, help vulnerable neighbours, otherwise socially distance.
Exercise and sunshine are encouraged

Merkel / the police seem to rely on us exercising common sense and consideration for others,
which so far has worked very well

LaurieMarlow · 21/04/2020 17:46

Sunbathing should be positively encouraged actually, given the theories about vitamin D.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 21/04/2020 17:55

You were upset and sobbing because people were buying things you didn’t approve of in a supermarket.

I assure you that I absolutely was not upset and sobbing over what people are buying in a supermarket. Absolutely, 100% sure of that.
