ASDA deliveries this week- what arrived?

Elouera · 18/04/2020 11:49

I realise each shop will be different, but what percentage of items arrived/didn't? What type of things didn't you get?

(booked order weeks back, and yes, I'm vulnerable)

I don't order on-line but my nearest Asda supernarket is fairly well-stocked now. Things that are noticeably absent are flour, sanitiser and anti-bacterial hand washes and pasta. Most other stuff is back to normal levels.

Lostmyshityear9 · 18/04/2020 11:56

Most of it this week. More than the last few weeks. Some substitutes but they were reasonable. No flour or tinned tomatoes or tomato puree (all of which I really need right now!). Handwash/soap is starting to be available (if you really need this, the baby bath-wash that is Asda's own make works perfectly well). No bananas for the 3rd week running.

Could be worse!

Foobydoo · 18/04/2020 12:04

Most of mine arrived. There was a few subs but they were just different brands of what I ordered.
Most things seem to be in stock now.

We had a shock this morning when D.H got an email about mils order. He does it for her as she doesn't use the internet. He had saved her spot with a £30 bottle of whiskey and some random items. He amended her order to what she wanted yesterday and forgot to check out! She doesn't drink and none of us drink whiskey. Luckily the driver returned and refunded it for her even though they are not supposed to at the minute, because it was a high value item.

TotesGodsWill · 18/04/2020 12:14

It’s much better than at the start of lockdown. Only had a couple of things completely unavailable, still more subs than usual but they were very reasonable ones.

silverdollarcity · 18/04/2020 13:04

Not Asda but Morrisons...ordered about 60 items yesterday and less than 20 turned up. No soap, pasta, yoghurt, cheese, strawberries, washing up liquid or wraps (tons of other stuff missing too but I've forgotten what). Very poor. I've found Ocado to be okay though.

Glitters100 · 18/04/2020 13:08

Asda- most items arrived.
About 10 subs (but better subs so I’m happy, some were items I actually wanted but were out of stock when I ordered).
4 missing items- gluten free flour, washing up liquid, soap and vanilla essence.

Shane I can’t get another slot now 🙁

Aria20 · 18/04/2020 13:13

No eggs, flour, full fat milk, wraps, flat breads, burger buns, bbq charcoal, pasta and pasta sauces, dishwasher tablets, melon, halloumi, frozen broccoli and no orange squash! Grrrr!

ohmysoul · 18/04/2020 13:19

I'd say we had about 80% of the order arrive as ordered. Of the remaining, 10% was missing and 10% was substituted. Not bad really.

Elouera · 18/04/2020 19:03

Great to know. A few weeks back people were only getting a few items, but that might have been another supermarket, and seems like stocks are improving.

Everything bar yeast.

ArkAtEee · 18/04/2020 19:13

I got almost everything (or a decent substitute). No eggs and no nailbrushes though.

PlugUgly1980 · 18/04/2020 19:18

Strawberries, a bag of salad, and tinned hot dogs were the only random things missing from ours this week! We got hand wash soap and toilet rolls, and no shortage of milk, other fruit and veg, bread and meat etc. Could only order smart price baked beans but to be fair we buy Asda's own normally and didn't really notice the different. Got tinned soup this week too. Over the last 3 weeks, I've had almost all of my shop each week. One week no milk came which was the biggest headache (but local shop had it anyway) and another week no carrots, but on the whole we've been really pleased, and felt incredibly lucky. I would say, one shop was over 4 hours late, and this weeks about an hour late, but I'm not fussed as long as it arrives at some point!

Mirrorxx · 18/04/2020 19:22

I did an online asda shop and they substitutes loads of vegan items for non vegan items. They wouldn’t accept returning them to the driver. So much waste.

TotesGodsWill · 19/04/2020 14:37

Mirrorxx you can still get refunds for unsuitable subs, they’re just not accepting returns. I appreciate that doesn’t help with the issue of food waste but at least you’re not paying for food you can’t eat.

Mirrorxx · 19/04/2020 14:42

@TotesGodsWill the driver told me about that, thanks though. It was mostly the waste I felt bad about. It was around 20 items and they were just very odd substitutes

DivGirl · 19/04/2020 14:48

Even if the driver could return them they wouldn't be put back on shelves so it's a waste regardless.

I got almost everything in my most recent shop, or an alright substitute (refunds on four because they weren't gluten free).

Previous shop I didn't get bread, flour, eggs, milk, or any Easter eggs. And the substitutions were wild - lots of vegan stuff instead of gluten free. Not sure why they think dietary requirements are interchangeable.

Mirrorxx · 19/04/2020 15:47

@DivGirl that’s the issue I had. Substituting vegan pizza for gluten free.

Redglitter · 19/04/2020 16:07

I only had 1 item not arrive. I had 2 totally unsuitable substitutions (totalling £25) which customer services sent the driver back for. I presume it was because of the value incase I was taking the piss and I reassured them it was still in the bag & I hadnt touched it

Elouera · 19/04/2020 17:42

@Mirrorxx- could you donate any of the items to a food bank or were they fresh things? What about neighbours?

OP posts:
Mirrorxx · 19/04/2020 17:52

@Elouera I have managed to give away the longer life things but not all of the fresh. This was a couple of weeks ago

PhantomErik · 19/04/2020 18:54

Mirrorxx I put in the extra info box to only substitute with vegan products. I've been substituted with gluten free on the past!

Haven't managed to get any online delivery slots but we're able to shop so fair enough.

Our local Aldi & Tesco have been pretty much as normal apart from flour.

Watsername · 19/04/2020 20:10

I had an Asda delivery last week - all but 2 items came, but there were lots of (sensible) substitutions.

I think they have sorted out their supply over the last few weeks, so you should mostly be fine. You may struggle with things like eggs, flour, pasta, antibac products....

Elouera · 20/04/2020 14:28

Update: Received my order today. A few substitutes like bagged courgette instead of loose, orange squash instead of orange/pineapple and intense coffee rather than regular. Also no celeriac, but I'm sure I'll cope Grin

I didn't try ordering loo rolls, flour, handwash etc, so can't comment on those, but very happy with the rest of the order. All arrived bagged also!

H1978 · 20/04/2020 16:22

Just received mine about an hour ago
No missing items but a couple of subs were not suitable : oven baked muffins instead of warburtons rolls and a peg dryer instead of just pegs but overall really pleased, also got 3 packets of plain flour Grin

EatDessertFirst · 20/04/2020 16:35

I had a click and collect slot today....Asda subsituted my sons oranges for garlic bulbs.
Eggs, flour and vegetable oil of any brand have been out of stock in Asda for over a month. I'm having to go to Lidl or Tesco to finish my shopping rather than just doing one shop each week. So, more exposure.
