Confused about UC

DH is self employed so hasn’t worked for weeks.

We haven’t claimed UC because I didn’t see the point if we would have to pay it all back and wasn’t sure if there would then be a delay in paying the self employed grant.

We’ve borrowed money off my DM to see us through until June.

Someone has said we wouldn’t need to pay UC back though. This can’t be true can it?

And do we continue to get UC once back to normal instead of tax credits? Would it be the same amount we get now?

And in June when we get the grant is that for April-June? What happens if we are still in lockdown after that?

You wouldn't need to pay any UC back as it would be what you are entitled to for the time period you get it based on earnings or lack of, for that time.

If you currently get tax credits and make a UC claim then your tax credits will stop and you won't be able to reclaim them. You could use the entitled to calculator to see what you would be entitled to on Uc and the difference between that and tax credits.
