Germany doing well and starting to open up, I'm hoping my short break won't be cancelled..

Winnietheshit · 16/04/2020 09:40

Nope.

GreyishDays · 16/04/2020 09:40

I don’t know if they’ll let people from the UK to enter though?

PumpkinP · 16/04/2020 09:42

Mn doesn’t think anyone will go on holiday ever again so this is probably not the best place to ask!

AnyFucker · 16/04/2020 09:42

Nerp

Floatyboat · 16/04/2020 09:44

I would hope so. Is it flights and hotel separate? What you planning on doing though? Doubt everything will be open again.

Fanthorpe · 16/04/2020 09:44

I think it will be essential travel only for a long time now.

IdblowJonSnow · 16/04/2020 09:46

I wouldn't have thought so.

ssd · 16/04/2020 09:47

It's a flight and hotel package bought on Expedia.

OP posts:
BackseatCookers · 16/04/2020 09:47

Definitely not.

SinglePringle · 16/04/2020 09:49

Highly unlikely. I expect we’ll be able to travel more freely in the UK but international travel will be banned by all countries.

ssd · 16/04/2020 09:51

OK thanks everyone.
I wonder when I'd hear from Expedia about it being cancelled, or do I contact them?

OP posts:
BillieEilish · 16/04/2020 09:54

Definitely not.

IMO you wait for THEM to cancel YOU, or you risk losing money. Check your booking conditions carefully.

LooQoo · 16/04/2020 09:58

Me too OP, weekend of 13th/14th June. Our flights and hotel are booked separately. I’m waiting to hear from the airlines, as unless the flight is cancelled we won’t be able to get a refund on the hotel.

My concern is that the flights go ahead but everything (restaurants, museums etc) are still closed.

Fanthorpe · 16/04/2020 10:12

SinglePringle why do you think it will be banned? I can fly now if I need to, as long as I have permission to enter?

thatgingergirl · 16/04/2020 10:13

They may well be planning to ease restrictions, but I doubt that will extend to cross border travel. I guess when they do, it will be Schengen countries only at first.

GreyGardens88 · 16/04/2020 10:16

No idea, I have a holiday booked end of September and I'm confident that will go ahead. I don't subscribe to the MN belief that no one will be able to go abroad until summer 2022

olivo · 16/04/2020 10:21

We were supposed be going to Berlin in June and have cancelled what we can. Flights officially still going but we are waiting for them not to be!

Looneytune253 · 16/04/2020 10:27

What airline are you travelling with? My sis is cabin crew and I think they've been grounded for a long long time so even if Germany is back to normal we prob wont be? Also even if we were back to normal I'm sure foreign travel is going to be last on the list

Emcont · 16/04/2020 10:29

I doubt it :(

We're due to fly to Majorca June 22nd. Apparently they aren't opening for tourism until August. I say apparently as obviously I have no idea if that's true or not.

But I'm 99.9% certain we won't be going as I believe Tui have said no flights until June 30th at the very earliest.

cologne4711 · 16/04/2020 10:48

At the moment you have to quarantine for two weeks when you enter Germany so I doubt it, and there might also be a requirement to do the same here by then. So 4 weeks quarantine for 4 days. Not worth it.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 16/04/2020 10:58

We're a bit arrogant in this country sometimes. Who's to say that the recovering countries are going to want people from the UK coming in when our cases are still bad?

Cary2012 · 16/04/2020 11:00

No

CatteStreet · 16/04/2020 11:01

I think it's highly likely, even if flights are going, that a lot of the things it's worth coming to Berlin for will still be closed or operating entry restrictions that may make the experience stressful or mean you can't do all the things you want to.

ssd · 16/04/2020 11:53

Yes, I think Germany will be opening more than us by then but they won't want us as our government didn't handle it as well as them and were much higher risk.
So, should I wait till they cancel me rather than me cancelling anything?

OP posts:
CatteStreet · 17/04/2020 06:52

Yes, I would. I'm waiting for our June flights to Ireland (from Germany) to be cancelled, then will rebook (don't know if that'll be an option for you).
