Journalists flitting around the place - why?

Just heard Nick Martin from Sky News stating during daily goverment briefing that he has been in and out of care homes.

Whenever I hear or seeing journalists shoving a microphone in front of someone, asking how they, feel or think, often less than two metres away from them, I despair.

I'm sure that they are not immune from catching and spreading the virus to others.

Even before the virus appeared, I rolled my eyes at yet another sight of a journalist doing a live presentation at 10pm in front of the Treasury building, Parliament and so on. Why? Absolutely no need. Just as there is no need to gallivant around the country when the rest of us are told to stay put.

I think reporting the news Is pretty essential

I agree, accurate reporting is absolutely essential.

We need eyes other than the govt on what is happening.

They are gallivanting, they’re doing their job.

Was a bit peeved that the tabloid jurno dad at school was sending his kids in as a ‘key worker’ but thinking about it journalists are pretty essential at the moment (even if most of what he seems to write is about celebrity’s cellulite).

DH works in broadcasting & journalism. He's considered an 'essential' worker in recognition of how important journalism and public broadcast are right now.
