Travel insurance

I recently bought my mum a weeks travel insurance fir a trip to the States that cost £240. She's in her 70's with high blood pressure, hence the cost. Have managed to rearrange flights, and got a refund on all our expenses.
The only thing we've paid for ironically, that we've not refunded is the travel insurance ( which there was no point in claiming on)

So anyone had any success asking their insurance company ( Aviva in this case) for a refund of the policy or to move dates?
