Who has had coronavirus related shopping substitutions and what were they?

These are normally some of my favourite threads for making me, and probably others, smile.

There must be some great ones during these past few weeks of shopping shortages.

I have never done a food shop online so cannot give any of my own but those who have...

Marzipan for chocolate. I said no thankyou.

That's funny. Probably someone like me who made that swap. I could happily snack on a pack of marzipan.

The stores are well stocked here and I've only had a couple of deliveries in the last few weeks so no odd substitutions. If they don't have bread I don't get bread, but everything else has been available.
Before this though I ordered organic eggs and they said they had no suitable alternatives (plenty of eggs but none were organic). I would have thought any eggs were better than none.
Got cherry tomatoes as a substitute for cherries once.

They tried to swap my gluten free food for food that wasn't gluten free 😂

3 cartons of Passata was substituted with 3 tubes of tomato purée. Not horrendous but did give me a chuckle.

I ordered a tin of hotdogs and got a multipack of tinned tuna in brine!

They tried to swap my GF flour for normal flour too .
Last night the yeast in my basket was out of stock and the suggested substitution was a bottle of lemon juice.

I ordered 3 X 4 pts of milk 2x2 pts were delivered. Wouldn't last a day in our house.

I ordered Cadbury's mini eggs to top my Easter cake, they were replaced by full size creme eggs

I ordered a regular Cadbury’s Easter egg and got sent a GIANT one instead including 2 sharing bars of dairy milk inside 😂 poor me

I ordered bbq sauce and received burger relish. A bottle of wine was swapped for a bottle of vodka! A whole chicken swapped for diced chicken. The most annoying ones I’m finding, when shopping for multiple households, is ordering 2x 4pt of milk, and getting a substitute of 1x 6pt, or 3 lots of half a dozen eggs swapped for a tray of 15. It makes dividing up the shopping interesting!

Tonight I received my groceries I ordered on Sunday afternoon. A tin of tuna was craftily swapped for a tin of salmon! And I have just realised that I only have two bottles of low fat milk to drink yet I specifically said three in the original order. One of my tins of fruit and cat food has gone too. I also ordered six jars of strawberry jam and three tins of chicken soup. None of my eggs were delivered either. I will be sending them a feedback email tomorrow. I will make a trip into town later this week to get me some milk and fruit.
