Would I be breaking the rules to take toddler out twice?

I had new born and 2.5 year old. If I went for my exercise in the morning and took them both in the double pram to get toddler to nap, and then in the afternoon DH went for his daily exercise pushing the same toddler on his trike to let off some energy and get some fresh air (no garden) would we be rule breaking?

I have*

I don't see any issue with that.

faithinallisee · 13/04/2020 10:39

Yes

faithinallisee · 13/04/2020 10:40

Oh - your title and your OP do not ask the same question.

Nighttimefreedom · 13/04/2020 10:41

It wouldn't be rule breaking, no.

Watertorture · 13/04/2020 10:41

Neither of those involve the toddler letting off energy or getting exercise at all! Though the fresh air side is good. Can't he/she walk for at least some of it?

Carrie7469 · 13/04/2020 10:42

Technically yes.

Zogsbigsister · 13/04/2020 10:42

I think technically you would be breaking the rules but honestly, I think morally you would be fine.

newmumagainn · 13/04/2020 10:43

Toddler would be pedalling his trike- but can walk some of the walk if he wants!

@newmumagainn no, you are not breaking the rules whatsoever.

pocketem · 13/04/2020 10:44

Absolutely fine

sansgender · 13/04/2020 10:47

Don't worry about it.

CovidCanFKcuOFF · 13/04/2020 10:47

No. Not rule breaking.

It's the adults getting their excersise the toddler is the bonus.

The whole point is transmission are yiu risking transmission? No

Quartz2208 · 13/04/2020 10:48

Are you exercising with the double buggy if so that is fine because you are going out once then your DH is going out once

MereDintofPandiculation · 13/04/2020 10:51

Technically it might be against the guidance but there is nothing in law to say you can't go out twice.

newmumagainn · 13/04/2020 10:52

It would me be, buggy and DC in the morning, and DH, trike and DS in the pm

I don’t understand why the toddler doesn’t count as a person here? If it was a dog it would be different (not saying I agree necessarily) but it’s a child. We’re only allowed out for excersise once a day, toddler is also human, so surly that’s rule breaking? I can see the logic of doing it of course, can’t say I’d care if I saw a neighbours toddler out twice in a day with seperate parents as it’s not exactly endangering people (other than the toddler if people don’t socially distance which seems quite low risk), but yes it’s breaking the rules as we are only allowed out once a day for excersise.

BreathlessCommotion · 13/04/2020 10:55

You won't get any sane answers on here. But the legislation does not limit it to once a day, just to exercise. However the public health guidance says once a day. It's fine.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 13/04/2020 10:57

It is against the rules to go out except for the 4 stated reasons. You exercing is fine. Your child exercising in a trike with your DH is fine. Your toddler and baby being pushed out in a pram to get them to sleep doesn't satisfy any of the 4 stated reasons to be outside of your home.

We are now told that CV travels further distances than we were first told. Why would you even consider putting your toddler at risk even more frequently than is necessary?

What's with the answers saying you are "technically" breaking the rules? You aren't technically breaking the rules. You are actually breaking the rules.

Do you want guidance as to whether you are actually breaking the rules or do you want MNers to just give their opinion on whether they think the rules don't need to be applied in your case?

BigChocFrenzy · 13/04/2020 10:58

Technically the toddler is !Grin
but just do it

In the buggy, your toddler would not have touched anything outdoors
(If a dog was taken in a buggy, then I wouldn't count the dog either)

The adults are getting their fresh air within the rules

newmumagainn · 13/04/2020 10:59

@NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite Tetchy! I'm asking if I'm breaking the rules. No need to be a grump about it.

OP posts:
Grobagsforever · 13/04/2020 11:00

It's absolutely, 100 percent fine.

Ignore any batshittery on here

HermioneWeasley · 13/04/2020 11:01

Well technically yes, but I can’t really see the harm, assuming you’re not in crowded places

Year6teacher754 · 13/04/2020 11:01

@Grobagsforever
Its is a 100 percent fine yes. Everyone on here is overreacting and being rude tbh

EmmaJR1 · 13/04/2020 11:01

Surely it depends how populated the area you are proposing to walk in is?

You could go out 100 times a day if there's no one there.

It's about limiting interactions. If you live in the middle of nowhere crack on. Middle of London - I wouldn't!
