Hallway cleaning station... Ideas/anyone else?

Has anyone set up a hallway /doorway cleaning area? I'm trying to figure out what steps to take to avoid any contamination getting further into our home. Ideally I would have a sink in the hallway but it's not really possible. Has anyone else installed or introduced a method of doing things to reduce things getting into the home? We take our shoes off and hang coats up and wahs our hands but that's it.

Are you going out to work still?

If it's just for after shopping then just wash your hands after putting it all away.

No I'm not working right now, although that may change. My DP is a key worker but not front line medical.

We have a quarantine box for post and Amazon parcels.
We also have a big bottle of hand sanitizer in the window next to the front door.

We use our foot to shove letters and parcels to one side of the hallway to quarantine them for a couple of days!! We take our coats and shoes off as soon as we get in (but we’re usually a no shoes home anyway) Then we wash our hands. I have been wiping door handles, light switches, taps etc down most days and clean phones, mobile phones and remote controls too.

We are using the back door and going straight into the utility room where there is a sink to wash hands. Take off shoes and hang up jackets.

I have a box with anti bac spray and kitchen roll/ cloths. Use this to clean high traffic areas several time’s a day. Door handles, light switches, taps etc. Also have a supply of paper hankies and hand sanitiser for people to take with them when they have to go out.

Post gets left for a few days before I touch it.

Also use pure alcohol to clean phones, tablets, keyboards and remote controls.

I've had to order a new replacement remote for DH's TV as the old one has stopped working due to all the cleaning of it that I've done!🙄

I set one up 6 weeks ago. Everyone thought I'd lost the plot

We have a porch, I stuck instructions to the front door and refused to open it until they had complied. I have a certain teenager that thought corona virus was just political hype and didn't want to help me stay safe. I'm compromised so have to take great care.

I moved our coat rack into the porch.
Cleared an area, put down a very large plastic tray (car boot tidy) for shoes
Bought lots of dettol fabric spray.
Cleared an area for sanitising bags.

No shoes in the house
No bags in the house until they have been sanitised and left for a full 10 mins
No coats inside the house
Hand to be washed immediately on entry.

I also have a space for hanging masks to be decontaminated using 95% ethanol.

Getting teenagers to change out of day clothes after school was an uphill battle. But right now not a battle I have.

How often are you all going out?! We have a quarantine area for deliveries/ post but other than that we haven't been out in three weeks so have no need to wash more than we usually would anyway.
When we were still going out I was wiping down door handles, light switches etc. constantly but I feel slightly cocooned now. The post has now become our biggest risk factor.

We're staying at home, one grocery trip a week and a drop off to a vulnerable grandparent. No parks, no walks anywhere, big garden though. So no other people other than the postman and odd delivery but no quarantine area or hand sanitiser (soap better anyway) and not wiping down groceries.

I'm impressed with you all. I don't quarantine post, or clean shopping or anything. I just walk in to my house pop upstairs and wash my hands then carry on with my day 😳

I think I've come to the realisation as a key worker working in the community it's not of I'll get the virus it's when so I just do the hand washing thing and only go out for essential work and essential shopping trips 🤷🏻‍♀️

yes. I have a downstairs cloakroom next to my front door and I have laid a small.wire fence (old animal cage) separating that area from the rest of the house.
We only go out to walk the dog and everything that has been out the house stays that side, we then wash hands and take off shoes and socks before going into the main part of the house and I wipe my dogs paws with dilute dettol. This means that keys, coats and bag stay well away from us and it helps me mentally separate what is a source of potential risk. So wash my hands if touch anything that has been in that area. I haven't done food packaging yet but may do that next time. though have been washing my hands a lot more after touching any packaging

For those wiping things with pure or 95% alcohol, I think actually it needs a higher water content to work.

The viral load on any parcel would be so low. Providing you don't stick your hands straight into your mouth, even if you contracted covid you'd only get a very mild case

Much harder for keyworkers though. All clothes straight into wash and them too?
