The people who’ve Had It but been actually TESTED

Can we hear from those who’ve actually had it but as TESTED and confirmed cases? There’s a whole lot of ‘might have’ ‘think i have’ ‘potentially’ ‘sure I have’ and the only absolutely confirmed cases we hear are terrifying news stories and death counts which I expect is really impacting people’s fear of it. I don’t really think there’s much in the accounts of people who ‘think’ they’ve had it because so many symptoms are possibly explained by colds, tonsillitis, hay fever, migraines and.... anxiety (SO many symptoms people are having that they are completely convinced are Covid are very very similar to pure anxiety, understandably) I even think a lot of doctors and 111 calls are diagnosing based on symptoms , when it can so easily be something more mundane.

. It’s making me so fearful that maybe there is no ‘mild’ or ‘asymptotic’ to this at all. Just the horror stories. Although I am aware that’s completely irrational and incorrect.

I understand that it’s because so little testing is happening but I would so love to hear accounts from those who have actually been TESTED and know they’ve had it. Would anyone who knows they’ve had it (and by knows, I mean diagnosed with an actual test) care to share?

@Sicktiredanddown hope you are well again soon and don't feel too unwell Thanks I am almost back to normal

HollysBush · 06/05/2020 09:18

Got tested Saturday at local hospital (where I work), results by phone on Monday.

Layladylay234 · 06/05/2020 10:17

So I had the test done at a drive through on Mon. I got unclear results this morning so now have to go back on Thurs. I was worried I hadn't done it properly on myself. So going to ask someone to do it on site this time. If they cant, partner is gonna try. Nightmare and makes me wonder how many others are getting unclear results.

Got tested early in the weekend at a drive through centre. Still waiting for my result. I'll let you know how it goes.

@Layladylay234 a friend of mine has just done one of the posted out home-tests and she said it was really tricky and she’s nervous about whether she gave a good enough sample. I think that might be a common worry. I watched the video guide on how to do it and the test itself looks really uncomfortable and tricky. I hope your second goes ok x

My DD has had it. She's a key worker and her temperature shot up in work, her throat was on fire and she fainted. As their procedure 999 was called and a paramedic dispatched. They tested her and gave her something to bring down her temperature and she later walked home.

She came in and went to bed. My other DD, who doesn't live with us dropped off ice lollies which my DD lived on for about four days. She was hot, had aches, headache and a bad throat. Then on day four, she got the cough. She had no energy and ate once a day (although she had no appetite) on day five. She was ill, with a poor appetite for at least 10 days. She still has a dry cough a month later. She had a fan on her constantly.

I am surmising that she got it from me because i had symptoms that wasn't known about until weeks later. My wee had turned orange, i had something that had symptoms of shingles, but didn't have shingles and i thought i had a chest infection (i was given antibiotics). I'd had headaches, really unusual for me. My wee is still orange my GP isn't concerned yet and I've still got a dry cough.

My DD's asthmatic friend had it, contracted it in Shrewsbury University and they were all tested. She was hot, no appetite, exhausted and breathless. Her Mum moved in with her, it was less risk than her moving home, luckily she has her own flat there.

A friend of mine was admitted in an emergency for another (an accident) situation. As a routine they tested, and to her utter surprise she was positive. Neither her nor her husband, or her kids had ANY symptoms. Whole family isolated for the 14 days - and still no symptoms. She reckons she either got it in the supermarket or more likely when out for a run (paths quite busy where she lives in town, and difficult to distance)

@Ponoka7 can I ask why you thought it was shingles. Slightly panicky here as I have had shingles symptoms this week but have had some blisters

RhymingRabbit3 · 06/05/2020 13:53

My sister in law has been tested positive and had mild symptoms. Her husband is the only person who she has been in contact with (she is self isolating due to underlying condition but he is working outside the home in a hospital) so he must have had it but was asymptomatic.

I feel it may be the opposite - I think far more people have had it and been very mild or asymptomatic.

Im on a baby support group on facebook and pregnant women are now tested on admission to maternity. Several have now reported they have tested positive with no symptoms

Bimbleboo · 12/05/2020 19:02

@jronhatch29 wow really?! That’s so interesting. I hope they all stay well!
