The people who’ve Had It but been actually TESTED

Can we hear from those who’ve actually had it but as TESTED and confirmed cases? There’s a whole lot of ‘might have’ ‘think i have’ ‘potentially’ ‘sure I have’ and the only absolutely confirmed cases we hear are terrifying news stories and death counts which I expect is really impacting people’s fear of it. I don’t really think there’s much in the accounts of people who ‘think’ they’ve had it because so many symptoms are possibly explained by colds, tonsillitis, hay fever, migraines and.... anxiety (SO many symptoms people are having that they are completely convinced are Covid are very very similar to pure anxiety, understandably) I even think a lot of doctors and 111 calls are diagnosing based on symptoms , when it can so easily be something more mundane.

. It’s making me so fearful that maybe there is no ‘mild’ or ‘asymptotic’ to this at all. Just the horror stories. Although I am aware that’s completely irrational and incorrect.

I understand that it’s because so little testing is happening but I would so love to hear accounts from those who have actually been TESTED and know they’ve had it. Would anyone who knows they’ve had it (and by knows, I mean diagnosed with an actual test) care to share?

Has anyone who's had it smoked before? this is setting of Anxiety for me

Dellow · 13/04/2020 15:39

@gingerbreadslice my sisters FIL had it . Confirmed positive by test - apparently he caught it by shaking someone’s hand. He is 70 diabetic and a smoker. He was ill for about a week but OK now and did not need hospital, just stayed at home.

DianneWhatcock · 13/04/2020 15:48

@gingerbreadslice one of the ones I know who have had it and recovered is a smoker so try not to stress

He's fine and recovering but he said he'll be giving the fags up now 😳

I am an ex smoker haven't smoked for over 2 years. I would say if you do smoke then try and give up. But I'd give that advice at any time tbh.

Dalrympy · 13/04/2020 15:54

Yes. Cousin who lives in Germany. Just a mild sore throat.

Now on third weekly test. Still fine but still testing positive.

Noooblerooble · 13/04/2020 16:27

My friend is a doctor and has just recovered. She has asthma and was wanting very badly to avoid getting ill. She's recovered and hasn't been seriously ill. Her two children and husband have also had it mildly. She is the only one who is still getying a bit tired but she's ok.

gingerbreadslice · 13/04/2020 16:53

@DianneWhatcock I love how he's sure now he's going to give up , there's nothing like a kick up the bum to help you along the way lol. I am trying I just can't get past giving up the last morning and night fag 😩.

gingerbreadslice · 13/04/2020 16:54

@Dellow Wow glad he's okay that's a few risk factors there bless him

Bimbleboo · 13/04/2020 18:18

@Dalrympy the approach in Germany sounds so hood in comparison doesn’t it? Although I’m not sure the U.K. would be willing to pay the tax levels required to mirror it in future. I do wonder if that might change but I expect the debt of this will raise them enough :(

Thank you for posting this thread and to everyone who has answered. Like a lot of people I am anxious about this. Not about being ill so much, because I'm not in a group that is likely to need hospital treatment, but I am worried about my newborn and worried about looking after my toddler and newborn if DH or I, or both of us, had a bad dose.

Bimbleboo · 13/04/2020 19:46

@Stringervest I’m the same! I don’t have any family or anything so I’m all she has and I really fear what would happen if we got unwell. It’s been reassuring for me to hear from others who were mild.

@Sienna9522 did you end up having the test? How are you feeling now x

SlightyJaded · 17/04/2020 01:06

Thanks for these. It's reassuring to hear that there ARE mild cases out there (confirmed). We hear about the terrible experiences of people who are on ventilators, and you can start to wonder if, in fact, there really are people who are asymptomatic or just feeling a bit tired.

Thanks for the thread.

TheDrsWife46 · 18/04/2020 13:37

@Orangeblossom78 posted this on the lungs threads but I recall this thread had attracted people who had actually tested positive so may alert people here:

Calyx72 · 18/04/2020 13:41

Thanks @TheDrsWife46 I had seen this but they are only accepting donations of plasma from people who live in England (I live in Scotland)

TheDrsWife46 · 18/04/2020 13:47

Ah. Please dont think im pressuring anyone i just thought this thread might be a better place to post it. Hope your getting better @Calyx72 xx

underneaththeash · 18/04/2020 13:47

I know a local family who tested positive Man (50) flu-like in a bed for a few days Boy (13) a bit of a cough and temperature. Woman (45) no symptoms at all. Girl (10) no symptoms.

We had a few cases in a younger year group at school after half term, most asymptomatic.

Local lady in her mid 50's was hospitalised, but she is vastly overweight.

Calyx72 · 18/04/2020 14:03

Definitely getting better slowly thanks @TheDrsWife46 Smile no chest pain when inhaling and sats back to about 97%
Main problem is all the lying about doing nothing has stiffened/weakened me so I have pinged by back getting into bed two days ago arghhh!

Hope you are feeling much better too x

DianneWhatcock · 18/04/2020 14:43

@TheDrsWife46

Thanks for posting that - I've just shared it on my Facebook

Bimbleboo · 18/04/2020 19:47

Thanks for posting that @TheDrsWife46. I’m scotland too and also haven’t been tested so no idea if I’ve had it but that link was really interesting to read about and reminds you of all the work being done. I hope lots of people who HAVE been tested and come to this thread might also find it worth a look xx

Bimbleboo · 18/04/2020 19:48

@underneaththeash how fascinating that one family can all be so differently impacted?! It’s such a strange virus. We just seem to have no idea how anyOne will react.

TheDrsWife46 · 18/04/2020 19:48

I should advise that it also states that you can register if you have had symptoms but untested. Once you complete the further information it will tell applicants whether they are eligible. Im not eligible as im still poorly and symptomatic.

X

ChillOutChick · 18/04/2020 19:58

My sister has it (confirmed). Her symptoms have been mild and have included been chest tightness, a bit of a temp on and off, extreme fatigue and in the last few days lung pain. She's had these symptoms for over 2 weeks and she's now on the mend.

GrumpySausage · 18/04/2020 20:03

Has anyone who has been tested and confirmed not had a cough? I had very similar symptoms (unexplained breathlessness, aches and diarrhoea) a few weeks ago but no cough so I dismissed it but I'm beginning to wonder? I always thought a cough was the defining symptom.

WhenYouveAFirstInEnglish · 18/04/2020 20:07

My close colleague tested positive.

Started with a temperature on the Friday and feeling crap. Phoned in sick at work, tested Monday. Temperature came and went until the following Friday. Came back into work but temp went up again and she went home. Back in work Monday and now fine. Positive result took a while to come through and she didn’t get it until the Sunday before she came back to work. Her DH felt slightly rough, possibly psychosomatic. He wasn’t tested.

WhenYouveAFirstInEnglish · 18/04/2020 20:07

She also lost sense of smell and taste.
