Washing down my shopping

I have been washing down my shopping for the last 3 weeks, I use and mix of zoflora and water in a spray bottle and spray it onto kitchen roll and wipe everything over. I have read that zoflora kills 99.9% of viruses, do you think this will be enough to prevent bringing the virus into my home.

I have severe health anxiety and I'm really struggling mentally with this atm.

The chance of bringing it on shopping is relatively low anyway. Is it delivered or do you go shopping? You can only do your best to avoid it but this seems ott.

I go shopping as I can't get a delivery slot. Why do you think it's OTT? Think of all the people that have touched the items you are buying.

Many people have touched the packaging...suppliers, warehouse people, shelf stackers...any one of them could have COVID and even no symptoms.

The virus can live on plastic for 3 days and paper for around 2.
Transfer that to your cupboards, fridge then fingers and mouth- not funny.

OP I think what you are doing sounds fine.
Things you cannot wash, put in a box or carton as a quarantine box for 2-3 days.

But you are more likely to contract it by going put and shopping than from the packaging itself. Shop staff, warehouse and delivery staff usually wear gloves.

I was reading an article that said the highest risk is hard surfaces in the supermarket. So shelves, freezer doors, trolley handles etc. I only realised how much I touch In the shop when I started paying attention. I'm short so if I'm reaching for the top shelf I end up leaning against the lower shelving too. Since then, I've started removing my top when I get home and putting it in the wash. The article also recommended using your non-dominant hand to put stuff in the trolley as you are less likely to touch your face with that. They also recommend washing the shopping, removing it from outer packaging or leaving it aside for 72 hours. They said the packaging was the least risky part of the shop. Main thing is funny touch your face and wash hands well when you get home.

I take as much as possible out of the wrapping. So inbox cereal, empty biscuits etc

Well we have to eat and I can't get a delivery slot anytime soon so I have no choice but to go shopping. Trying to only go once a week and I am fastidious about hand washing. I also spray my steering wheel, gear stick, door handles of the car. I'd rather be OTT than lying in hospital struggling to breath or even worse to pass this on to my kids and them possibly need to be in hospital without me.

That is because people aren't using them properly. Gloves are helpful if you put them on properly, take the off properly and don't touch your face with them.

And a bit pointless if your using them to put your shopping away at home because if one parcel does have traces of infection on it the gloves just transfer than infection.

Very different in a warehouse scenario.

Definitely. You need to dump them when you leave the shop. I wear them shopping. I put the shopping in the car and then dump the gloves. I bring the shopping iinto the house, wash my hands, wash down the shopping and put it away. I then wash my hands again.
