Playing out

It's nice and sunny and a number of children are therefore outside going up and down on their bikes, playing ball games, tig etc.
I thought we were all meant to be keeping 2m apart and so haven't allowed ours to play out (we have been for short walks)
I know they will ask to play out again tomorrow if they seem then when we come back for a walk.
Are there children playing out near you?
Have the rules been relaxed for children?

No the rules haven't been relaxed. I live in a cul de sac. Families here take it in turns to play in the street. Nothing official set up, just only go out front if someone else isn't already there.

I thought I hadn't seen anything about a change in rules but then wondered if I'd missed something.
We live on a street off a cul de sac and children we know are from the cul de sac are out playing with children from our street.

My DS has been out along the front today riding his bike, but only because I have been next to him and no-one else was out there.

Children should not be out playing with other children.

No mixing of households. I suppose you could report it if you were so inclined.

Why short walks? Can you take them for longer ones?

blue25 · 10/04/2020 19:04

No it shouldn’t be happening.

itsme1234 · 10/04/2020 19:17

Hi, wouldn't want to report them because our children usually play with them.
We have opted for short walks rather than longer walks where we may meet more people.

The parents who are allowing their children to play with children from other households are being very irresponsible. Round here I have not noticed any children playing with children from outside their own families. Any children I have seen have either been playing in their own gardens or out for walks or bike rides with parents.

Rules haven’t been relaxed OP, but people on my street (a London borough with a high number of cases) have been having a street party today with bunting and everything. No one social distancing, little kids running everywhere. These were the same people clapping for the NHS yesterday.
