Desperately need shopping deliveries for my dad who is on "the list" because of his COPD but cant leave his home anyway for other medical reasons. I cant bring shopping for him as I'm a carer so it's too risky that i would infect him/his shopping as there is no social distance at work.

I've registered him as vulnerable after he received the letter and got confirmation though from sainsburys that he will be added to their list in two days. That was friday but still no slots showing as available.

I've just been on tesco website since 11, keeping refreshing the page. Got put in the "queue" at 11.50. Eventually got into the website at 12.13 only to find no slots available.

Dont know what to do next. He had a delivery yesterday that I booked early and another next week but after that....!?!

Has he got a local covid support community group who could shop for him or you could register him with the new NHS volunteer site. Morrison's do a foodbox scheme which are easy to order. Does he need a lot or just food.

BusyBB · 10/04/2020 00:38

He's got serious mental health problems so he wont accept help from groups or volunteers. Too paranoid that they would be trying to mess with him.

I have seen about the morrisons box but unfortunately he has very specific requirements as he has no teeth, is unable to cook and likes things in single servings so he can tell they are sealed.

If it comes to it I will have to shop for him but I'm just so scared about taking the virus round and killing him :'(

What about something like Wiltshire Farm foods. Does he have community mental health workers who could help that he trusts.

To try and minimise the risk if you can’t get a delivery, could you do the shop, take it round and have him put a bowl of soapy water and a cloth outside the door so you can at least give everything a clean before it goes in the house? Maybe have some ‘clean’ bags ready to put the cleaned items in?

Morrison’s do a ready meal box now

You need to try all of them if you haven’t already. I’ve had emails from Asda and Iceland since registering dd on the list, both offering priority slots.

Whatsmyname26 · 10/04/2020 01:05

Iceland released loads of slots locally yesterday and still lots available. Have you tried all the local stores?

BusyBB · 10/04/2020 08:41

Thank you for all your suggestions. I didn't think about trying asda, morrisons or Iceland as there is only sainsburys and tesco in his town, but maybe they can still deliver there. I will try phoning all of them and sainsburys and Tesco's again today before work. Fingers crossed...

I understand this is stressful, but he got food yesterday and is having food delivered next week, so talking perhaps 2 weeks time?

Hopefully by then one of the big 4 will have contacted you about a regular slot.

Somewone said oakhouse foods were delivering a few days ago.
