Ill for a month?

So a few weeks ago I had cv type symptoms - fever, chills, cough along with sore throat, aches and pains, nausea, runny nose and lack of taste and smell. The cough stayed with me and after the first week back at work I was exhausted and slept most of the weekend as well as having a headache all weekend. The same happened last weekend. This is the third weekend (approaching) since I returned to work and I'm exhausted again, my cough has worsened (in intensity and frequency), and I'm getting another runny nose and can not smell or taste again.

Is this part of the same thing?

I'm never ill in spring. It's all so odd! Could it be CV?

Is CV ever this long and drawn out?

Why is my cough worsening 3 weeks post recovery?

So so fed up.of being ill.

SpongeCake23 · 09/04/2020 21:58

Yes I’m on almost 4 weeks. Started same as yours. Start to feel better and then it starts up again. Cough still ongoing and getting another sore throat now Sad but this has happened on and off since it started!

SoooTiredToday · 09/04/2020 22:00

Sad I've never had anything like this before. Just want to feel human again!

I have friends the same (confirmed & three and a half weeks in) - they’re saying it lingers. Hope you feel better soon & can take the slight positive that you’ve been through the worst of it?

Egghead68 · 10/04/2020 15:02

Yes I am 21 days in and exhausted.

Rosesofeyam · 10/04/2020 15:25

I'm with you op.Flowers
I'm on day 23 according to GP.
As a servere asthmatic it's making life tough going. I'm on my third lot of antibiotics and steriods.
It feels like never ending. I'm just taking one day at a time.

Cornettoninja · 10/04/2020 15:30

@SoooTiredToday have you spoken to your GP? You might have a secondary infection or be particularly susceptible to pollen at the moment. There might be things that they can try to support your recovery.

Egghead68 · 10/04/2020 15:36

@Rosesofeyam fellow severe asthmatic on shielding Flowers.Hope you feel better soon.

SoooTiredToday · 10/04/2020 15:36

Thanks cornettoninja - no I've not contacted the gp. I don't really want to bother them at the moment as I imagine they r flat out, but if this goes on another couple of weeks then I will call them

Yes nearly 4 weeks and still have a low grade fever and shortness of breath. I have a couple of days of feeling better then get knocked back.
GP thinks it's viral pneumonia, almost certainly covid but not quite bad enough for hospital and testing. Viral pneumonia usually lasts 3-6 weeks so he said expect this to as well. I should only worry if my breathing gets worse, as it should stay stable. He did give me antibiotics in case it was a secondary infection though because that is common - didn't work for me, so all viral.

Quarantinequeen · 10/04/2020 15:39

@Rosesofeyam hello from a fellow severe asthmatic on day 27! It's frustrating isn't it? I'm hoping this is covid and it's over with.
Hope everyone feels better soon!

wildthingsinthenight · 10/04/2020 15:39

4 weeks in here still exhausted and breathless with any exertion. Spoke to my gp and now have antibiotics in case there is a chest infection.
Fed up!

Rosesofeyam · 10/04/2020 15:42

Egghead thank you x
Stay safe yourself.

Rosesofeyam · 10/04/2020 15:56

Quarantinequeen. Thank you.
I'm just glad I'm still here. Last weekend they wanted to take me in but I knew I would be better at home.
It's just the gunk(sorry tmi) and the absolute knackered feeling.
My SATS have been ok between 94 on movement and 97/98 when resting. GP is happy with them.
My peak flow is low around 150, so 50% of normal. I just don't have the puff to do it without causing a coughing fit.
One day at a time.

Egghead68 · 10/04/2020 15:58

I am heartened that there are at least 3 severe asthmatics on the thread (including me) with COVID-19 who have not needed hospitalisation for it.

Lindy2 · 10/04/2020 16:07

I've had what I thought was a mild cold. I don't think it is Coronavirus because it has been very mild. However, I've now had my mild symptoms for 4 weeks and I'm now left with a tickly dry cough and reduced appetite and, although I really feel ok and have done throughout, I just can't quite shift it. Surely if it was a mild cold it should be gone by now. 4 weeks seems a long time when colds usually only last 2 weeks.

I don't think it's been Coronavirus but I just can't be certain.

Pinkbubbles12 · 10/04/2020 17:44

I think im on week 6, 3 lots of antibiotics later and still coughing up crap.

Started with sore throat, no fever, tight chest, headaches. I now how no taste, no smell and for 4 weeks a complete deaf ear.

2 weeks ago my chest was really badx doctors wanted me to go to hospital but i promised if i felt the need i would go, so told to self isolate in my room which i have done for 2 weeks now (told to stay until cough goes)

Im utterly miserable

Keepdistance · 10/04/2020 17:56

I had chills on 9th matlr then shortness of breath that lasted weeks until i took gaviscon but the next day i had a sore throat and cough (which dp also got). So no idea. Also asthmatic.
In china they were stiluck with thousands not recovered for months

Egghead68 · 10/04/2020 18:47

Have you still got symptoms @Keepdistance? If not, can I ask how long they lasted please?

Quarantinequeen · 10/04/2020 19:10

@Rosesofeyam hope you feel better soon. My peak flow was at 180 but the last few days has gone back up which is a relief. Like you I nearly had to go in last week but because I also have a slightly compromise immune system from another condition as well my GP said they would rather I stay at home if I possibly could and call 999 the second I got worse rather than risk picking something else up in hospital. It turned out to be the right call.
I do think the reason severe asthmatics aren't going in isnt because we arent getting ill enough to go in, it's because thresholds to go in are so desperate. I know normally with pneumonia like this I would have been in on oxygen and IV for at least a few days but where I am they are now they are saying if you're not turning blue from hypoxia you don't need to take up a bed!
