Are we doing enough right now?

In your opinion, do you think the UK is doing enough in terms of lockdown? Do you personally think things will get stricter or should? Or stay as they are and gradually ease in the coming months.

From experience people often say what do YOU think?
My opinion? I have absolutely no idea, Hence the question

I think if people follow the rules that are in place we should be fine, but I’m not sure we are.

i think if people are out and about buying a barbecue in one store then collecting charcoal from the local petrol station, then collecting meat for said barbecue from the butchers then what the hell is lockdown for!??

yes my furloughed colleague did exactly this today!!

whats the point if this is happening.......for what its worth i think it needs to be tighter lockdown starting 2 weeks ago!

I think they should stay the same. They're strict enough now and we don't need our exercise stopped. And let's not go down the road of other countries and seriously limit or completely stop dogs walks. Is madness

The deaths were seeing now we're probably infected a while ago. Yes it's dreadful and a tragedy but this lockdown can't continue indefinitely. I imagine if it goes on past June the economy will be fucked. Let's not forget that probably millions have been infected and a small number actually die. Their deaths are tragic of course - but it isn't all doom and bloody goom as th papers would have us believe

I think if people were following the rules it would be enough. But they aren't, so don't know. I really worry for people with no outside space if we have to lock down even further and ban outdoor exercise.

Lookingforwardtomyeastereggs · 09/04/2020 21:19

If people followed the rules, which many aren't, although you'd hope the government would have allowed for that. I do not want the rules tightened as they are just about bearable.

In my opinion it's not people taking outdoor exercise runners or general cyclists that are the problem either, it's things like;

I know someone who is giving their neighbour a lift to the supermarket, not an elderly or vulnerable person.
Dhs work colleague is swapping between households.
Some of my neighbours are using second homes.
People 'popping' here and 'popping' there.
People still congregating whether it's for barbecue parties or picnics.
People going to the shops way more than they need to just for something to do.
Business not doing correct social distancing.
People still visiting family.

Madein1995 · 09/04/2020 21:19

If they ban exercise I will still be going ill simply walk to the shop a mile away rather than walk in the field near me. I'll probably encounter more people and risk. I'd buy some bread and tampons to show I've 'bought essentials'. Or I'll carry on going on my walk, where I encounter no one, and plead ignorant should the police start trawling quiet residential streets and rural lanes

I'm complying full well with lockdown BTW. But lack of exercise and fresh air would fuck my mental health. And I'm classed as a keyworker, so I could just wear my work id.
