What the actual fuck

TheCanterburyWhales · 09/04/2020 18:09

The world is looking on in horror.

slipperywhensparticus · 09/04/2020 18:13

They also tried to shut down a party in Scotland I think? Party noises were reported woman dancing with a cat turns out it was a zoom party everyone getting pissed together just in there own homes

Not everyone is being stupid

lljkk · 09/04/2020 18:55

25 March and 7 April
13 days (or 14 days)
666 parties

~50 parties/day
in a population of what... 2.8 million people?
Maybe 1 million households?
So 50 households/day among 1 million households
0.005%

but tbf, those are only the ones who got caught.
So assume 3 got away with it or 0.02% flouters.

That is AMAZING level of compliance with the rules, then.

CaryStoppins · 09/04/2020 19:33

They said they had 660 REPORTS of parties not that they attended/shut down that many.

Gfplux · 09/04/2020 19:37

660 reports.
Imagine if the majority of people agreed with reporting this stupidity.
Amazingly some posters on MN have said people should just ignore this dangerous behaviour and not report it.

Flaxmeadow · 09/04/2020 19:39

Yes Greater Manchester is a county, but that's not the point is it.
660 reports of parties over one weekend is still a heck of a lot.

LolaTP · 09/04/2020 20:26

Doesn’t surprise me .

letitpea · 09/04/2020 20:40

It actually said they had to break up over 660 parties. Parties, some with DJs and bloody bouncy castles.

And responded to 500 call outs a day

Legal action taken against Chorley man who held house parties during lock down.

Near where I live

lljkk · 09/04/2020 22:02

Given the amount of curtain twitching & 'shall I report' threads on MN, I'm amazed the Manch police only had 500 call outs/day.

It's not one weekend, I think? I read OP's link, it's a 13-14 day period.

ssd · 09/04/2020 22:04

Don't these people watch the news???
Its fu**g terrifying.

gingerandsmall · 09/04/2020 22:09

Our neighbors had a party last week. One of the people who attended died from covid today and they're saying how much of a shock it is. Some people never fail to amaze me

Casino218 · 09/04/2020 22:10

They call it Madchester for a reason.

Gfplux · 10/04/2020 08:01

Please do not use the phrase curtain twitcher.
The phrase to use is responsible person.

cologne4711 · 10/04/2020 08:06

I find the 660 number highly unlikely. Are there even 660 police in Manchester?

Until this started, they were always saying how they had no (wo)manpower or resources, and now they've got the resources to go to 660 different houses in one day?

Please do not use the phrase curtain twitcher. The phrase to use is responsible person ha ha

letitpea · 10/04/2020 12:09

It's Greater Manchester, and there are 7300 constables in GMP.
