Click and collect

Can anyone tell me how click and collect works? We usually do Tesco delivery but can't get a slot. The Tesco is in our next town and I've never been there so don't know what it looks like. I've managed to get a click and collect for a week on Saturday and want to get in and out of there as soon as possible.
What should I expect? Is it a drive through situation or do I go to a counter in the shop with a trolley? Do I take bags or is it already bagged??
Sorry for silly questions. I am.anxious as my husband is on the extremely vulnerable list and I don't drive so he will have to drive me over there. It's not ideal but we think probably less risk doing that once a fortnight than me going out to shop regularly by myself.

Hi. So my local Tesco click and collect there is something set up in the car park where you drive up to it and the food is there and someone brings out your order. Usually someone helps you pop it into the car but I assume maybe at the moment you do it alone.
My local Asda it's slightly different, there is 'lockers' and you have a code and the lockers unlock and you retrieve your food from in there.
Usually unless you have ticked 'no bags' your food will be bagged. If you check your online order email it should show a small payment for your bags. If not id take your own just to be safe!
I always rave about click and collect I think it's great, it's all setup to be really easy whichever method it is so don't worry and they will of prioritised having minimal contact.

Our Tesco has a refrigerated cabin in an area of the car park. You drive up and give them your name. They bring out your shopping in plastic bags. You load into your car maintaining distance and they take your car reg down so as you don't have to sign for the shopping. I always do click and collect. Very quick and efficient.

That's brilliant thank you both, feel better now!

It’s brilliant, I’ve used click and collect since this all started and have had no problems getting a slot every week.
I pull up in the car park where it’s sign posted. Stay in the car and just confirm your name and order number
They put all the shopping on the floor by the car then go back inside
You then come out and load up the car and drive off.
It would be so much safer if everyone could have click and collect!
If you don’t tick ‘allow substitutions’ you won’t get a substitution if they don’t have what was on your list.
I think they’re bagging everything up now regardless, to make it faster.
They take payment on delivery day.

Don't worry, you won't need to go into the shop itself. There will be a pick up point signposted in the car park so follow those signs. Once you park in the pick up area someone will be there to help you, or there might be an intercom button to press. I believe your shopping will be bagged up already so simply pop it into your car and you're done.
Best wishes to you and your husband.

Can you do click & collect if you're a pedestrian at all the supermarkets? Also is there a price limit? Some supermarkets will only deliver if you spend £40, but I can't probably carry that amount... may only want to spend half that...

Realitea · 09/04/2020 12:28

The minimum for click and collect is £40 I think. Or some will charge a few pounds of you want less than £40
You don’t have to have a car

jobhunter7 · 09/04/2020 12:34

Okay are the price boundaries the same as they are for the deliveries then? Do you have to pay any extra to c&c?

jobhunter7 · 09/04/2020 12:49

Do Lidl & Aldi offer this also?

Spacie · 09/04/2020 12:55

It's all bagged at the moment, you don't have to pay extra.

Spacie · 09/04/2020 12:56

Extra for the bags that is. I'm not sure about the slot charges, mine was 50p
