Should I be worried?

I have very frail elderly parents, who have been self isolating since the lockdown. I have been keeping contact by phone and getting their food.

I discovered that a younger relative has been to visit them. This person has had Covid and on the day of the visit had been 7 days without symptoms. There is another member of the younger relatives family still in bed with Covid19. Apparently the younger relative was kissing and cuddling the elderly relatives so did not keep a distance.

I feel very shocked and worried by this and that the younger relative has put the elderlies at risk. Or am I worrying unnecessarily? Thanks in advance for any help xx

Were they tested and confirmed it was Covid or just symptoms. Because most people with symptoms don't actually have covid.

What an idiotic thing to do .
I would read the riot act to your relative. Hopefully he/she was no longer infectious.

Why did your parents allow the visit ?

I don’t think they were confirmed as having Covid, but one of the family members was so poorly as to have the paramedics called.

The elderly parents let the younger family member in as they were told they would no longer be infectious, having gone 7 days without symptoms.

Perhaps this is the case. I think there are two sides to the family, one (mine)=who are adhering to the rules 100% and the other being quite blasé.

This does seem to be the case with the general public, some really don’t want to get or spread the virus, others are pretty ambivalent.

Our family are split along those lines. In fact, I felt quite relieved when the other side were down with what seemed to be Covid, as they were too ill to be visiting the elderlies, but looks as though this has changed now they are recovering.

Just the usual family difficulties, I suppose, and people seeing things differently.
