Ok so I was going through my news feed and came across this.
How can they possibly reopen school after Easter but still have lockdown in place until May!

My children have underlying health problems so why would I want my children to go back to school knowing that they would catch the virus as they are high risk.

Furthermore, they have contradicted themselves. You can't possibly reopen schools, expect children to stay 2 meters away from each other and say that we will still be in lockdown till May.

I would like to hear people's opinions(make sure they are nice pleaseSmile)

It’s all just speculation. No one knows for sure.

Most children are very low risk
If your children are in a shielding category then of course there will be different rules for them. You can't expect the government to set the policy for the whole country based on your kids

Really want schools to reopen as I believe it will be a strong positive signal that things are going in the right direction however with ‘after Easter’ in inverted commas the following: 20th April, after May bank holiday, after May half term, September etc fit the headline as they are all ‘after Easter’! Speculation and attention grabbing headline at the moment.
Jady0891 for reassurance I would think any child in a shielded group would follow the rules set for specifically for the shielded group.

That Lancet study that some journalists have been writing about is inherently flawed. It states that closing schools and doing NO other sort of social distancing, is ineffective.

This has been interpreted by some very lazy journalists as meaning closing schools didn’t work and schools should reopen ASAP.

It’s a pretty irrelevant piece of research as we didn’t just close schools. We closed schools as part of a widespread social distancing program which has worked well and closing schools as part of that has been very effective in reducing transmission between households.

Read the actual lancet study and what gov advisor Neil Ferguson has to say.

Then wonder why some newspapers might be choosing that interpretation to write about!

Yes it is speculation. Im just saying my children as in speaking for them. However I do know that there are many children with health conditions.
So please don't take it the wrong way when I quoted my children.

I suppose we will find out soon
