DD16 started coughing yesterday. She says she can feel something moving when she coughs and she's got a runny nose. Her temperature is normally 36.5 and this morning it's 37. She doesn't feel ill and isn't struggling to breathe at all.

Might it just be a cold? How would I know?

Obviously I'm monitoring her closely but I'm not sure whether she should isolate for 7 days. We're staying in most of the time anyway but should she still go out for walks? Or to the shops if she keeps 2m distance? I don't want to stop her going out at all if it is just a cold / hayfever but I don't want to take any chances...

You wouldn’t know if it’s a mild case, hence why you all need to self isolate.

Don’t take chances, cough is 7 days for her and 14 for rest of household

You won't know, she won't get tested. It's crap and why some people don't take it seriously enough. Treat it as though she has covid 19.

You don't know. That's why everyone with symptoms has to self isolate Hmm

People isolating are still allowed to take exercise maintaining social distance but she must not go into any shops. Nor must anyone in the household.

It could be a cold, but it could also be CV. Clearly you all now need to isolate, not sure what in the guidance you think leaves that open to interpretation.
