Covid

Where are the mild cases? :(

We live in a town that has over 100 confirmed hospital cases and a fair amount of deaths. They say for every death theres alot of cases in the community. But nobody on facebook/parent groups/community groups seems to be reporting being ill (and i hope it stays that way) . Is there even mild cases out there?

Check out the burning lungs thread! There's a big bit in the middle between 'mild' and needing hospital treatment.

mindproject I’ve seen a few of your posts recently but they are all very vague/cryptic. What is it you’re actually trying to say? If you think COVID19 doesn’t exist, say that. It’s much more helpful to people Smile

The mild cases are probably walking around feeling ok and spreading the infection as they go

Well as people aren’t really supposed to be going anywhere, and if they do they’re practicing extreme social distancing, they shouldn’t really be spreading it too far.

I'm a mild case.
I just have the temp, shortness of breath & endless dry coughing fits so I'm exhausted from lack of sleep, my eyes hurt but I think it's lack of sleep that has done that, but I'm not bad enough to contact my GP or the hospital according to the NHS site.
I just have to self isolate for now.
My only possible source of infection was a confirmed case 6 days before my symptoms started but I still don't get to be tested.

I know 2 separate friends who have had "mild" - as in in bed for 2 weeks/GP diagnosed (not tested) - CV. Both were quite poorly but well now. Families either got a sniffle or asymptomatic.

Who I do know is 759 people who all reckon they "had it in November" which is basically magical thinking verging on the idiotic - but hey if it gives you comfort. I'm sure they would share a Venn diagram section with people who say they had 'flu each time they've had a runny nose.

I think that DD2 had it back in early February. She had a persistent cough and struggled to breath. It was nothing like a normal cold, and her cough made a distinctive sound.

DH started with the same symptoms about 10 days later. He's still coughing and struggling to breath.

DD1 started with the same problems about 2 weeks after DH, although they were much milder. I have had a bit of a cough, but seem to have either avoided it, or had it very mildly.

They all had this distinctive sounding cough. Like a combination between a sucking noise and a clicking noise.

If we've had it, the symptoms have lasted much longer than what I'm hearing.

I had a mild case (and no, I wasn't tested and I didn't report it to anywhere official). It lasted around two weeks, I was distinctly unwell (but only a mild cough, and only at the start) but I was still able to eat and look after my cats. It was the total loss of my sense of smell that makes me sure it was Covid (which is only just coming back now).

historyrocks · 08/04/2020 10:44

That was wrong-they made a distinctive sound after they'd coughed, when they were struggling to breath-not during the cough.

Hopefully all these people who have had it are now immune? It would be interesting to see, in the medical profession, that work on Covid-19 wards, who have had it and are returning to work, who are exposed to a high dosage, how likely they are to catch it again?

Most people who woke up with a slight sore throat or a runny nose, would carry on daily exercising, going food shopping or even carry on in their community support role..... Spreading virus far and wide.

DD2's gf has a mild case. She has asthma so has been lucky to not have complications and isn't quite recovered yet, but she's recovering. And then there's the large number of asymptomatic cases too.

HoffiCoffi13 · 08/04/2020 10:47

But even while exercising and food shopping people should be hand washing, staying 2 meters from anyone etc so they shouldn’t really be spreading ‘far and wide’. That’s the point of the measures. Of course they’re not perfect but they will restrict the spread.

We all had symptoms of covid 19, but there's no testing. Ds was the worst affected and the coughs have taken over three weeks to clear up.

It's diabolical that no testing is taking place. It just doesn't make sense.

I honestly don't know what I believe. I am viewing information from lots of different sources and trying to decide what the truth is. I will not trust our media as a reliable source anymore as there are far too many lies, contradictions and manipulations. I am entitled to that opinion.

You’re entitled to any opinion you like mindproject, I just don’t think the cryptic posts across threads are particularly helpful to anyone. It’s generally more useful to communicate clearly, and might provoke useful discussion.

Yes i agree theres alot of "i had it in november/christmas" which is just wishful thinking. Ive found this quite reassuring, thank you.

@mindproject you are entitled to any opinion you want, but I agree with PP in that there’s no point plopping your bizarre, cryptic one-liners on random threads. If you want a discussion, start one for goodness sake.

It is hardly something to brag about... People will have kept very quiet if they were ill and not broadcasted it!

I'm sick - I could have it, without testing though, I'm not going to know. I have all the symptoms apart from the fever, its been nearly two weeks now and today is my worst day by far.
I haven't told anyone outside of my house IRL, it would terrify my elderly parents, for example. I'm staying indoors and being responsible.

I’m wondering whether I’ve had it. Both my dds had fever or sore throats last month, and I’ve had a cough for over three weeks now. Every now and then I feel breathless and as if I’m running on 60%. My peak flow was v low yesterday. I’ve had extreme exhaustion like in the first trimester of pregnancy, mild diarrhoea at the start, slight chills and a slightly burning chest. But I’ve managed to keep going as normal apart from about three days in the last three weeks where I’ve needed to just lie down all day. I’ve definitely had a chest infection but it’s been v mild. I’d like to get tested and know if I’m free to do more volunteering as I’ve been furloughed 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP, a relative of mine tested positive and they lost sense of smell/taste, had a bit of a headache and just generally felt a bit rubbish. Nothing more!

Report
GoldenOmber · 08/04/2020 10:59

I suspect I’ve had it mildly and so have my children/DH but there’s no way to know. And I didn’t bother telling Facebook about it.

There are lots and lots of mild cases and ironically that’s why it’s been able to spread so fast, because lots of people with a bit of a cough and a fever carried on as normal.

(There’s also definitely been something else with cough/respiratory symptoms doing the rounds b/c I had that in October and it was horrible, but it can’t have been covid£
