Dog owners very irresponsible letting them of leafs on walks knowing they too can spread covid19?

Today on my permitted walk in semi rural area two men having a day on the beach just let thier dog run wild with no consideration for social distancing.

With reports on dogs, cats and the latest tiger having symptoms and testing positive for covid19 should dig owners be allowed to let thier dogs just jump on passers by?

I saw the dog coming and moved about 4 metres away from the men. One just lit up a fab and did nothing and the other watched.

When I moved the dig chased me as I ran to try to climb up a hill. I threw stones near it to try to deter but didn't work and owner eventually took him and said he was being friendly. More like dangerous. I said look we are all trying to social distance and who knows if your dog has covid19 and some of us are trying to keep ourselves and others safe and social distance!

Shouldnt dog owners be more careful?

Chardonnayspetdragon...
You are just being personal and that adds no value. I'm sure everyone else has had enough of your empty comments.

Eckhart I'm sure the minority who on here have mentioned 'goady fucker' were not imagined. Did you really miss them?

I will use this description the first chance I get!

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 15:08

Do you mean me dearie?

I called it almost from the get go. No denials I see.

Keeping it real. (Like the street)

Eckhart · 07/04/2020 15:09

Speak for yourself, OP! Unless you feel your views are so weak that they need bolstering by 'everyone else'?

mumieone · 07/04/2020 15:10

Eckhart did you make as them?

No empty comment there. Unintelligible maybe....

Eckhart · 07/04/2020 15:13

I think they might have said goady because you're coming across as quite goady. That's what I meant when I said you might want to consider what you've said/how you've said it.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 15:16

No thinking about it *eckhart

I said it because I meant it. Yhey haven’t convinced me they aren’t.

They’ll be too busy looking under D to see what denial means.

Eckhart · 07/04/2020 15:16

Please clarify.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 15:19

Eckhart · 07/04/2020 15:19

Awright Now you're being goady! It's a good job we're not allowed in the pub, this would definitely be a brawl.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 15:21

Nope. Not violent. Smile

Nor from the streets.

Just seem to have an intolerance for first time posters who choose an inflammatory post, say they don’t know what things mean and then quotev MN.

I merely responded.

Alsohuman · 07/04/2020 15:23

Cabin fever is really settling in.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 15:25

Eckhart · 07/04/2020 15:37

Im still lost and I've lost interest. Please don't throw any more stones, especially not in the direction of friendly animals.

Flaxmeadow · 07/04/2020 16:05

Dogs have not been proven to carry covid19

It has not been proven that they don't carry it either. It's a novel virus. Not enough is know about it yet. Dogs can and do pass on diseases. The rabies virus being an obvious one

There is a park near me that is pretty much a no go area for families/children. Dogs off leads everywhere, some of them really large dogs with powerful jaws. Dog crap and dog urine allover the place or traces of it. Nowhere to sit down, eat a sandwich or throw a ball without a dog approaching you.

YANBU OP

Shmabel · 07/04/2020 16:10

The overwhelming majority of dogs are extremely loving, playful and friendly creatures. That's why people are crazy about them.

It's fucking horrible to throw stones anywhere near them. Dog wasn't trying to scare/upset you and it wouldn't even understand that you were being cruel! Not its fault that you don't understand dogs or that it was let off lead. Poor thing.

That said, I do think dog owners should always have their dogs on lead unless they have impeccable recall (very few do). My dog doesn't so is never allowed off lead unless in the garden. We wouldn't have gotten him if our garden weren't big enough for a run.

But don't throw stones FFS

twinkle2306 · 07/04/2020 16:17

Coronavirus lives on soft surfaces therefore can live on fur. If you then touch the dog or they rub against you etc it can spread to you or you can spread to them and so on so fourth. As has been said before think of it like glitter, that sticks to dogs fur and if you stroke it it goes onto you etc. Not to mention having to break social distance being broken if the dog won't come back.
Most importantly if your dog runs off you count on people finding it, taking it to the vets, the vets then scan then call you think of all the cross contamination etc.
It really is irresponsible

twinkle2306 · 07/04/2020 16:18

However you throwing stones and running up the hill was a massive overreaction and made the situation worse as the dog thinks you want to play

Mitzicoco · 07/04/2020 16:24

Even the RSPCA are advising that dogs should be kept on leads....
