Today on my permitted walk in semi rural area two men having a day on the beach just let thier dog run wild with no consideration for social distancing.

With reports on dogs, cats and the latest tiger having symptoms and testing positive for covid19 should dig owners be allowed to let thier dogs just jump on passers by?

I saw the dog coming and moved about 4 metres away from the men. One just lit up a fab and did nothing and the other watched.

When I moved the dig chased me as I ran to try to climb up a hill. I threw stones near it to try to deter but didn't work and owner eventually took him and said he was being friendly. More like dangerous. I said look we are all trying to social distance and who knows if your dog has covid19 and some of us are trying to keep ourselves and others safe and social distance!

Shouldnt dog owners be more careful?

Flax you say it’s cruel to keep a dog as a pet but then if you do, it should ALWAYS be leaded and perhaps muzzled too?
Perhaps it would be cruel for you to keep a dog as a pet as it sounds like Fido would perhaps become aggressive, probably from having such a bleak existence under your rules Hmm

Never needed a treat to train my dogs. I used one simple thing....love.

Sostenueto · 07/04/2020 22:47

Even if it was near my dog lolaGrin she's such a baby I have to protect her. Mind you if flax saw her she'd run a mile! Grin

Dogs cannot spread Covid! Stop spreading false facts

No one knows yet if dogs can spread it or not. That doesnt mean they can't just that it isn't known

The virus can survive on all kinds of surfaces, including skin (obviously), metal and textiles. Then there is more direction transmission, like saliva, blood and faeces, but it's not know yet.

This virus was only named in January. It's new. Guess the science bods are still working on it

“ A dog reflects the family life. Whoever saw a frisky dog in a gloomy family, or a sad dog in a happy one? Snarling people have snarling dogs, dangerous people have dangerous ones. ”

How do you know they were having a day on the beach??

Artykitty666 · 07/04/2020 22:50

Don't throw stones at dogs, you utter beast.

Shmabel · 07/04/2020 22:51

You can't reason with the unreasonable. When someone spouts utter nonsense, it is fair to correct them with demonstrable facts. But when that same someone carries on spouting obvious nonsense, getting more and more absurd, there's little point in engaging.

Sostenueto · 07/04/2020 22:52

Do you eat dog poo then flax? You are so misinformed it's painful!
Dog brilliant and oh so true quote!

Mitzicoco · 07/04/2020 22:52

I like dogs, I just don't like lazy dog owners who simply can't be arsed to train them. They give dogs a bad name.

Sostenueto · 07/04/2020 22:55

Shall I frighten poor misinformed flax by putting a picture on of my very savage hunger crazy dog folks?Grin

Flaxmeadow · 07/04/2020 22:55

I agree. This is why I try not to reply to posts that are personally unkind and rude

Sostenueto · 07/04/2020 22:56

Agree mitz about untrained dogs but I wish they had human training classes instead!

Artykitty666 · 07/04/2020 22:57

That goes for at or near my dog too. my dog can twist and flex faster than you can throw, unless you mean you're pelting the poor animal. If she breaks a tooth catching one of your deterrent stones, guess who's paying the bill!

Eckhart · 07/04/2020 23:01

Maybe butterflies can spread it, Flax. Scientists haven't proven that they can't. Better get them all on leads. Oh, and goldfish. The virus could get into the water, in some way that scientists haven't yet identified, from the child who contracted it at playgroup (because his single parent is a key worker), and then, when the goldfish flapped a bit on the surface of the water, the contaminated water could get on the key worker parent's cardigan, who might then transport it back to work, where it might spread amongst the whole establishment, killing millions and overwhelming the NHS.

Scientists have no evidence that this can't happen.

So we'd better put goldfish on leads, too. Just in case.

Sostenueto · 07/04/2020 23:02

When you spout off about dogs flax with false information, throw stones or run down dogs then you insult dog owners whose pets are like their family. If ever anybody even attempted to hurt my dog then beware and I can assure you if anyone tried to hurt me though my dog is a complete whoose then beware too! She us my baby and I'm her mummy!😀

Flaxmeadow · 07/04/2020 23:06

Its not really a good idea to threaten someone with you setting your dog on them. It's against the law

Like the way mosquitoes can spread malaria, Zika and West Nile virus? Then there would have to be a cull

doghairismyglitter · 07/04/2020 23:10

Fucking hell 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Alsohuman · 07/04/2020 23:10

Who did that?

doghairismyglitter · 07/04/2020 23:12

Flax I can’t tell if you deliberately try to antagonise people or if you genuinely believe what you say.
.... I don’t know which is worse tbh.

Sostenueto · 07/04/2020 23:13

I don't threaten flax she will protect me with her life because she has been bought up surrounded with love by all my family as all my dogs have been and she would protect every member of my family. I don't train her to do that that is the love a dog gives to you in return for the love you give them. As you keep saying flax it's in their nature to protect the pack.

Eckhart · 07/04/2020 23:14

Let the police know, Flax I'm sure they'll be interested in hearing about a stranger threatening another stranger on the Internet, when the two wouldn't even know if they met.

Flaxmeadow · 07/04/2020 23:15

As you keep saying flax it's in their nature to protect the pack

Its in a dogs nature to attack the weakest in the pecking order. The high amount of hospital admissions of children savaged by dogs is testament to that
