She's a class act

That is from yesterday so apologies if it's already been done.

Me too. I want to borrow her for a bit.

marriednotdead · 07/04/2020 11:43

When I first read it I thought what a delightful and thoughtful thing it was to say. Kids have different priorities and she's not forgotten that. Very impressed!

Barrique · 07/04/2020 11:52

She’s put a teddy bear in her window for the children’s bear hunt too.

pollyglot · 08/04/2020 04:04

In addition to which, the NZ govt. seems to have things under control with rigid (mostly) lockdown. One death, and the daily infection curve noticeably slowing. Jacinda's hand at the helm seems to be a big part of the goodwill still evident. My grandchildren, and the kids in their social group know her as "Auntie Cindy".

AmelieTaylor · 08/04/2020 04:11

She is a complete star. My Mum lives in NZ and I am EXTREMELY grateful HA has taken such a tough stance.

My friend has a nursery there (kindy) and they were sent vouchers to collect a cleaning solution to clean EVERY single toy/object/surface in the building AND the outside area when they had closed down.

They're not oissing about and I love that. It's given me hope that my mum will be ok. It's tough being 12,000 miles away & not able to help her in anyway (other than FaceTime) but to know she's pretty well protected really helps.

Didyeaye · 08/04/2020 04:14

Me too!

BradleyPooper · 08/04/2020 04:25

She;s doing it all the right way and NZ has even launched a mental health campaign targeted at those who are suffering anxiety or distress due to the virus. Hoping that she's inspiring a new generation to get into politics globally so we can start to balance out the old white men....

eaglejulesk · 08/04/2020 04:34

We love her too - and we're keeping her Smile

RAOK · 08/04/2020 04:58

She is awesome!

Mimilamore · 08/04/2020 05:08

She is very impressive, admired her after the massacre....

onalongsabbatical · 08/04/2020 10:38

Yes we need women (yes, I said women and not people) like her in charge all over the world. Esp in the US and can we have one here in the UK please?
Dominic Cummings is not fit to lick her boots with his Machiavellian claptrap.

DarnedSocks · 08/04/2020 10:46

New Zealand are doing very well and I hope it continues. Remember though, it's a lot easier to enact strict measures when the population of the whole country is less than 5 million. There's over 8 million people in London alone.

You do realise the world exists outside Europe and the English speaking West? As for age, a bit of life experience before leading a country is no bad thing.

Anotheruser02 · 08/04/2020 12:13

They came down hard very very early though didn't they, I think she had the right idea to lock down early. As she said Italy once had only 200 cases. I think they were watching the world and learning from it.

Me too! Love the easter egg colouring for egg hunt too.

TheVanguardSix · 08/04/2020 12:16

We need more like her. She is truly awesome!

wonderstuff · 08/04/2020 12:20

Shes fantastic. I think that she embodies why we need leaders with diverse experiences. Shes a hands on parent and so has thought about the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny. I'm not sure many of the UK cabinet members would have given it a thought, because they don't have hands on experience with small children.

OlivesandLemons · 08/04/2020 12:20

She's just great!

PerkyPomPoms · 08/04/2020 12:28

Jacinda’s brilliant!

ChrissieKeller61 · 08/04/2020 12:44

All NZ's nursery educators have to hold degrees because it's the most important years of learning. Id love to live there

PerkyPomPoms · 08/04/2020 13:19

It’s pretty great Grin

mbosnz · 08/04/2020 13:44

I'm so proud of NZ and Jacinda Ardern, she's been amazing.

To have been PM during our first and worst terrorist attack, and now global pandemic, and I don't think she's turned a hair or put a foot wrong.

Thank goodness she was in charge at this time, I shudder to think what the situation would have been if Bridges had been, or John Key as we suffered him during the quakes.

She cares about people.

With reference to the Mental Health campaign, we learned a lot from the quakes, and it would be an off-shoot of the 'Are you alright?' campaign that grew out of that.

As someone else pointed out though, it's a hell of a lot easier with 5 million rather than 55 million, and when you're a pimple on the arse end of the world, rather than a very central hub.

BradleyPooper · 08/04/2020 14:12

@DarnedSocks yes, I'm not in Europe and haven't lived there for 15 years. There are plenty of old white men dominating politics outside of Europe.....

Anotheruser02 · 08/04/2020 14:32

She cares about people.

I felt that when she showed so much empathy after the death of Grace Millane.

Pretty sure other countries with large populations have imposed stricter measures than the UK. I think the best thing NZ did was close the borders early.

AnneLovesGilbert · 08/04/2020 23:30

She’s a classy, brave, kind hearted wonder. Very envious.
