August abroad holidays? Probably not likely to go ahead are they?
Had to pay more payment last night as to pay it I guess no more due until Beginning if May now when I guess we will no more

Thinking maybe postpone it to next year when given opportunity?

We booked our holiday in Majorca in January, the full balance needs paying at the end of the month. We were due to go 20th July.
DH has contacted the travel agent they said we could change it. I was thinking of changing it to October half term, but might postpone to easter next year.

Me and DS are both in the vulnerable group.

It's a job to know what to do isn't it
We didn't take insurance out at time of booking we are going with TUI
Is it too late to take insurance?

Any insurance you take out now would highly not cover any cancellation due to Coronavirus. It would be liking having a car accident and then taking out car insurance, sorry.

Bearbehind · 07/04/2020 10:01

Insurance companies aren’t covering Coronavirus related claims any more

Many aren’t even selling policies at all at the moment

Emcont · 07/04/2020 10:01

Absolutely 100% too late to take out insurance now. Tui are offering vouchers rather than refunds.

Why on earth did you not take out insurance?

Ilikewinter · 07/04/2020 10:04

Who did you book through?.
I would say your options are continue to pay and see what the situation is, however if the holiday goes ahead you would be expected to go ie you couldnt get a refund if you feel unsafe to go.
Or, its still unsafe and the travel agency cancels you should be able to transfer the dates or refund if thats what you are offered.
Or...you choose not to pay any more and forfit the money you have paid...need to check the booking t&c's for any refunds.

If you purchase holiday insurance now it wont cover you for any covid cancellations but i guess it would still give you medical cover, lost baggage, delayed flights etc etc.

Ilikewinter · 07/04/2020 10:05

Sorry..have just realised is TUI youve booked with!

Ronnie1234 · 07/04/2020 11:02

Yes TUI
Normally do the insurance when next payment due but then this hit & was too late as couldn't get insurance to cover

Good luck getting anything out of Tui. Been waiting a month for my refund, no contact at all. Not answering phones. I wouldnt pay them another penny, loads of people are struggling to get refunds.

Nirvana1979 · 07/04/2020 11:36

@Rollercoasteride can i ask who you booked with?.
I'm in similiar situation. Booked Majorca for 13th July. Full balance due 4th May. This is with Jet2. I'd rather just receive a refund at the moment to be honest, really dont want to pay the holiday in full in May.

Needtobepositive · 07/04/2020 20:38

Looks like we’ve lost our deposit and insurance if we cancel now for our August holiday totalling £700 but I guess it could be worse. Could really do with that £700 back though 😢

Ronnie1234 · 07/04/2020 22:11

@Needtobepositive because you've chosen to cancel?

OP posts:
Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/04/2020 22:18

I've changed mine to next year. Can't see international leisure travel happening this year.

PumpkinP · 07/04/2020 22:20

Same here, holiday booked with tui, also didn’t insure At the time as I normally do it separately and now it’s too late. Don’t know what to do tbh.

Needtobepositive · 07/04/2020 22:49

Yes.@Ronnie1234. We have a vulnerable child so don’t want to risk it in August. 😢

Needtobepositive · 07/04/2020 22:50

We couldn’t amend it to next summer as the flights haven’t been released yet. @Ronnie1234

Ronnie1234 · 08/04/2020 06:09

@Needtobepositive understandable you changing it but I thought you could always amend dates of travel even if £50 per person admin fee charged - when did you cancel? I guess you can't change though if flights not released

@pumpkinpie01 when are you due to go?

OP posts:
Needtobepositive · 08/04/2020 08:11

They’ve said we can keep amending it until flights come out but I’m
Not
So sure that’s the best idea. I think because we’ve already spent
£2k we want the rest of that back. If we had only
Spent
The deposit and had nothing to lose we probably would do that but right now we need to secure that £1300 back.
