This cartoon reminded of so many things that I have read on here. It also made me smile.

Made me smile too IrisAtwood
Love your name! Obvious about Atwood - but you're an Iris Murdoch fan too I'll wager? Smile

You guessed! I’m thinking about doing a reread of Iris Murdoch once I’ve finished my current Henry James reread 😊

Ha! Where will you start? I'm re-reading Alexander Solzhenitsyn's 'Cancer Ward' at the moment. I've got almost all the Murdochs and have read most. I re-read 'The Sea, The Sea', a couple of years ago.
I'd prob re-read either 'The Bell' or 'An Accidental Man' next. Back in the old days I gobbled anything she wrote as soon as it was out...

My favourites include A Word Child, The Italian Girl, The Sea, the Sea and The Black Prince, but she has written so many great novels. A Severed Head and An Accidental Man are also tempting to start with.

My son is also a fan and we bought him a signed first edition of The Message to the Planet for his birthday as he was born in the same year that it was published.
