Reading festival?

DS is paying instalments to go with a group of his friends. They’re still talking the money and it’s at the end of August.

Even if restrictions are lifted I doubt this kind of gathering of thousands will be permitted in August but he’s adamant it’ll go ahead.

Is it likely?

Very very unlikely imo

sorrelli · 06/04/2020 23:00

@itsahardknocklife1 me too!

Seems unlikely

Presumably they have to refund if cancelled?

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 06/04/2020 23:01

Hope your DS is able to get a refund at least

maddy68 · 06/04/2020 23:03

It's unlikely. He can get a refund though

LilacTree1 · 06/04/2020 23:06

Thinking of timing, it’s possible it will but the main thing to find out is how refunds work. If he’s paying in instalments then he’d need to stop immediately if they don’t do refunds but offer transfers etc instead.

LilacTree1 · 06/04/2020 23:09

Looking at this, I’m not sure, but a refund seems optimistic

sorrelli · 06/04/2020 23:12

Thank you all I’m feeling the same that is very unlikely but they’re happy to keep taking their instalments

@lilactree1 thank you so much for that, optimistic indeed Confused

That link says if an event is cancelled refund will be offered.

MurrayTheMonk · 06/04/2020 23:24

I'm meant to be going to TRNSMT in July and have the same issue. I can't believe they haven't cancelled it yet!!

LilacTree1 · 06/04/2020 23:28

It says “ In the case of a cancelled event, customers will be refunded the face value of the Tickets and any associated booking fees they have paid.

In the case of a postponed/rescheduled event, customers will be offered alternative Tickets of the same value for the new date/time, subject to availability.”

So they might go with - 2020 tickets rescheduled for 2021. It seems very open ended.

LilacTree1 · 06/04/2020 23:29

I wonder how far in advance Reading start their build?

CatBatCat · 06/04/2020 23:33

@LilacTree1 Beginning of July.

donquixotedelamancha · 06/04/2020 23:56

No chance.

Actionhasmagic · 06/04/2020 23:56

No way

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 06/04/2020 23:58

I don't know, August is ages away. It might be ok.

Curious78 · 07/04/2020 00:08

There's a chance we'll be more or less back to normal by then but as far as organised music and sports events go, I can see them being cancelled for the rest of the year.

Chiyo666 · 07/04/2020 00:12

My download ticket has been transferred to next year. They’ll probably do that.

Oblomov20 · 07/04/2020 00:14

Ds1, finishing GCSE's was supposed to be going. Such a shame. I paid in full, right at the start, on my credit card.

I also bought Killlers tickets. Gutted.

namechangenumber2 · 07/04/2020 00:23

Mine too @Oblomov20 Sad, he's holding out hope it won't get cancelled ( I'm not!)

bombaychef · 07/04/2020 00:27

Next year or refund. Zero chance it will happen this year

Babyroobs · 07/04/2020 00:30

We were meant to be going to the IOW festival in June which has been cancelled a expected. Booked through Ticketmaster and they have already sent an email regarding refund. Not actually received the refund yet though. They gave the option of re-booking for next year.

LilacTree1 · 07/04/2020 00:59

Oblomov, did Killers refund?

That sounds bizarre 😂

Nirvana1979 · 07/04/2020 01:02

I'm going to Belladrum festival (Inverness) beginning of August. I'm also paying up on a plan. They havent cancelled yet either. Last payment is due 1st July so I'm just going to carry on paying and i think we will be able to transfer to next year.

A bit annoying as taking dd and her ticket is free this year for ages 12 and under. She'll be 13 next year so will need to try and get another adult ticket...and its sold out now.

UYScuti · 07/04/2020 01:09

Even if we have some lifting of restrictions by then mass gatherings like that will not be up for negotiation... surely?
