Name change because I’m a wimp and scared of you lot 🤭

If someone was at their second home before the lockdown was announced, would you expect them to travel home after the lockdown was put in place or stay put?

I'd wonder why it had taken them 2 weeks to ask this question Grin

PuzzledObserver · 06/04/2020 19:50

Depends.

If they were in the kind of work which can’t be done from home, or they didn’t have the necessary equipment to wfh with them, I would expect them to go to their main home so they could work.

If they were retired, or could work from the second home, I would expect them to stay there as long as lockdown is in place.

Flexibility around family members, i.e. if one needs to go home to work, they all go, or the worker goes home and the rest stay put for the duration .

Can you WFH? If you can, then stay put. Guidelines are clear about avoiding unnecessary travel. And yes, that means staying inside and not going out like it's a holiday.

PicsInRed · 06/04/2020 20:01

I'd expect them to either stay put for the entire lockdown or make a one way express trip to their ordinary residence.

They should really make that trip immediately, but honestly it doesn't matter "when" if they just make a single trip. So if it was a week into the lockdown...eh.

OuterMongolia · 06/04/2020 20:05

I think strictly speaking they should stay put, but I wouldn't see it as a massive problem if they went home. A one-off journey isn't a problem compared to the people who are frequently going out for non-essential reasons or mixing households etc.

TheHonestTruth100 · 06/04/2020 20:13

Stay put, unless it's a necessity to travel back.

Why go back their other home 2 weeks into a lockdown?
