how long do the tests take for results?

hi, just wondered if anyone knows this? also are the tests only done if theyre pretty sure it is CV?
asking as my close friends dad was admitted yesterday afternoon into hospital and today her mum has been admitted too.
dad has no health issues im aware of but mum is asthmatic and has COPD too, so i would have thought that would be worst place to be if unlikely

A family member who is a front-line NHS worker had the test on Wednesday. Still waiting for the result.

Thankfully symptoms are mild, but can’t go back to work for another week unless result is negative

I had a test a couple of weeks ago, and at that time it was three days for results.

i just keep thinking that if they werent sure they wouldnt admit them especially for the mum

It varies hugely for results. Once the doctors have seen a few patients with it they get good at spotting it.

NHS here - tested on Monday last week, had a negative result by Tuesday PM. Not sure if positive results take the same time?

My sister got Positive results in 24 hours She was told it could take up to three days though

The symptoms are pretty much every symptom there ever was. I'm not sure how the doctors can detect just by looking at someone. There are too many things that don't make sense with what we are being told about the 'virus'.

Sick COVID patients display the symptoms in a particular way. The doctors I work with have got quite good at predicting positives. Sometimes somebody they thought negative comes back positive but rarely does somebody they think will be positive come back negative. It's quite interesting.
