News today is now saying that travel abroad for holidays should be cancelled indefinitely

This is going to be a massive hit on the industry and people in general

Especially those hoping for September or October half term breaks.

It’s in the TUI website but here are some screenshots.

our holiday com, pany still says for June (but not May) holidays it does not yet know - so we remain in our stand off - I have not cancelled and they have not cancelled. I expect most of all it will be if the airlines operate by end of June (unlikely) will decide it but if the holiday company cancels I want a full refund of the £2200 deposit.

@BunsyGirl who did you book with? Can you not book for next year.

Rainbowj · 17/04/2020 19:37

@Lala241280 I do agree but if travel agents expect that from the customers they should just clearly state this summer holidays are not likely to happen. You can understand when people have spent thousands on their holiday & booked time off work.

tootyfruitypickle · 17/04/2020 20:21

Dont forget section 75 claims on credit card . I’ve just paid full balance and will try and claim back via credit card once the holiday is cancelled. Credit card said hol co can still take money for any late cancellation fees and it’s better if they canc than you (not paying final balance equates you cancelling ).

BunsyGirl · 17/04/2020 21:40

@Rainbowj When the agent originally contacted me they said that I had to travel by the end of the year. Not enough annual leave left so was impossible apart from Christmas/New Year which was double the price. I have just been furloughed. Likely to be made redundant. There is no extra money available! After much arguing and a lot of stress they have agreed to the full refund that I am legally entitled to.

Mummypig2020 · 17/04/2020 21:43

What any uk holidays?

Rainbowj · 17/04/2020 21:46

@BunsyGirl oh I’m glad you will get your money back.

MarshaBradyo · 17/04/2020 21:48

There’s a lot of people needing refunds I do wonder if it’s even doable without companies going under.

I also think 14 day quarantine will be in place for many countries as they tackle the virus.

IamMoana · 17/04/2020 21:49

What do people think theatres will do? I have a London break with theatre in December. Long way off I know, but hundreds of people squished next to each other, I wonder if like everyone says and social distancing becomes the norm for a while, if theatres and cinemas will fold?

AlecTrevelyan006 · 17/04/2020 22:06

some theatres and cinemas will definitely never re-open

SciFiScream · 17/04/2020 22:51

If your holiday is cancelled either insist on a refund or rebook a holiday for the future. Don't accept vouchers or credit notes.

A holiday is protected by the ABTA guarantee and a refund is obviously a refund.

There's a grey area about vouchers and credit notes though...

Pantos take a lot of rehearsal time and effort. Months really. Plus costumes lighting effects music and the rest.

I doubt many will have a show people will attend.

I’ve had a concert rearranged for next year and I don’t want to go with 30,000 other people in a major city.
