before this lock down, we were in the process of moving to an empty vacant property which we are privately renting - we had moved a lot of our stuff there prior to lock down, obviously we did not continue with the move due to lock down.

We are temporary lodging at my parents ( me , my DH and my DS - 2 )

How long would you wait before moving yourselves in properly ? The property has had no one in, we would just be moving ourselves from one place to another with no contact with anyone in a car journey ..

95% of our stuff is there already, the rest of the stuff is the stuff we have at the moment at my parents ( clothing, nappies etc )

Moving house is specifically listed as a reasonable excuse to leave your home in the legislation

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/350/pdfs/uksi_20200350_en.pdf

Although I suppose it says it's only suppose to be done if reasonably necessary (reg 6)

I would. Setting up the new house will be a nice focus and its not like you require a moving van and helpers.

They said it was an acceptable reason to start with. Then they were encouraging people to postpone it possible.

If it involves hiring removals people/the other side moving out and them hiring removals people too - so basically 10 people or so traipsing through the property in the same day - I'd be quite wary from a transmission perspective. If it's you moving your own things and no one there, I'd go for it. I don't think you'd get into trouble for it. You are going home if you get stopped.
