What is the thinking from those in the know as to how many people have been infected or are currently infected?

Ah, I didn't know that 20% of cases need hospital admission. That seems very high?

8 days ago they reckoned 1.6 million could have been infected.

The Imperial modellers estimated 2.7% of the UK population had been infected by March 28, with a 95% confidence interval of 1.2-5.4% (ie there is 95% probability that the exact number fell between 1.2% and 5.4%). So aprrox 1.8 million. They estimated 9.8% of the Italian population had been infected and 15% in Spain on the same date. It will be significantly more by now.

They said a couple of weeks ago they estimated 1000 cases for each death, not sure how accurate that still is though

I reckon probably a couple of million of people have had it, a propos of not much really

Thanks. So highly likely more than 1.5 million then.
