Lockdown will end on the 13th ...agree? Disagree?

I apologise if this has been done to death.
My friend thinks it will end on the 13th as the economy won't be able to cope.
I personally think if the infection rate is increasing we will extend lockdown.
What do you think?

No

Geometricprince · 05/04/2020 21:05

I mean no I don't think it will, sorry got a bit carried away there Grin

bigchris · 05/04/2020 21:05

13th may maybe

TrudysTerribleFringe · 05/04/2020 21:06

I dont think it will end or even relax on the 13th. It's too soon to tell if it is working as we will just be reaching the peak.

Spied · 05/04/2020 21:06

I think we will muddle along as we are now until September.

DramaAlpaca · 05/04/2020 21:06

I would expect it to be extended until the end of April at the very earliest.

WoollyFoolly · 05/04/2020 21:07

Not a chance - in my opinion the review will be to see if the current extent of lockdown is working and if not, it'll be tightened up. There's no chance at all it will end then. No other country in the world has had lockdown end after 3 weeks. Italy and Spain who are the ones we follow most closely are 2 weeks ahead of us and still locked down. It'll be 8 weeks I think, then a relaxation.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/04/2020 21:07

Of course not.

slipperywhensparticus · 05/04/2020 21:07

Has it been three weeks yet? Are they extending it?

SavageBeauty73 · 05/04/2020 21:07

Nope

Merename · 05/04/2020 21:07

Disagree, no way! More likely they will make the lockdown more stringent by then.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/04/2020 21:07

13th of June (maybe)

thatswhytheladyisatramp · 05/04/2020 21:08

She is saying it will be over 13th April
But surely if it did end and everyone went about normal business -infection /death rate would go through the roof

OP posts:
BackInTime · 05/04/2020 21:10

No that's likely to be peak. I would imagine sometime in May

Flowersforpowers · 05/04/2020 21:11

13th May possibly...

CoronaIsComing · 05/04/2020 21:13

13th June maybe.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 05/04/2020 21:13

Not a chance.
5000 deaths now. It'll likely be nearing 10000 by the 13th

thatswhytheladyisatramp · 05/04/2020 21:14

My city is 238 now confirmed and that's gone up 84 in a day.
It's just starting to take hold up here.

OP posts:
mrsbyers · 05/04/2020 21:14

No chance at all

Matildathehun77 · 05/04/2020 21:17

It will be extended for another 3 weeks and we'll end up being locked down for somewhere between 8-12 weeks. That may get more severe at some point too. Hopefully the summer will be quiet (no big parties, theatre trips or holidays abroad) but more relaxed than total lockdown then September we'll attempt to get back to "normal" but may well have another short lockdown if numbers start to rise again.
A vaccine will be around by early 2021 then we can start the process of rebuilding our economy. There's no quick fixes her but we WILL get through it and it'll be a distant memory before we know it.

goldpartyhat · 05/04/2020 21:18

Not a cat in hells chance

Chloemol · 05/04/2020 21:22

Nope, it will be extended for another three weeks think and then reviewed again. I am not anticipating an6 let up until mid May earliest. And if the idiots who keep going out continue we will all be in full lockdown for three weeks from 13th April

whitedogpoo · 05/04/2020 21:22

13 June or September

youvegottobekidding · 05/04/2020 22:25

I would be very surprised if this lockdown is ended after the 3 wks are up. We aren’t going to see the benefits of it until another 2-3 weeks. I reckon another 3 wks lockdown, reviewed, see where we are. Maybe after May half term could be lifted at the very earliest, but like that Dr woman said (the one that does the press briefings, I can’t remember her name!) we can’t just suddenly return to normal life, it will be staggered, so perhaps they will just allow some shops/businesses to open first, then schools to follow later.
