Is anyone documenting lockdown?

Just out of interest really.

I’m documenting lockdown with one photo a day of stuff the kids get up to. They are only small. They won’t remember much. I think it’s probably going to be a fairly significant event in history and I thought it would be quite cool to be able to show them the sort of stuff we did.

Or maybe I’m just a massive geek 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is anyone else documenting? I’m always interested to hear different ideas

I’m using the one second everyday app and have created a 'corona virus' file so I’m not a) limited each day and b) spamming my friends all day long on social media!

iMoan7 · 05/04/2020 19:56

Ooh I’ve never heard of that but I do like the sound of it 🤓

DC and I have a timetable every day for homeschooling (in between me working). I’m keeping that in a book, and getting DC to do work in that book also. Some notes at the back about what’s going on in the world.

It’s honestly the most bizarre world right now. I want DC to be able to look back and remember what it was like the time the world shut down.

I'm keeping a little diary of things I've been doing in the day, what's happening in the news, how I'm feeling and how bored I am etc. I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my first and thought it would be good to show him when he's older! Smile

ThursdayLastWeek · 05/04/2020 20:06

Oh and I am writing bullet points in my actual paper so I can distinguish between days should I need to

iMoan7 · 05/04/2020 20:07

It’s funny. I have a chronic need to document anything out of the ordinary. Usually by photograph. Holidays etc. It’s just something I’ve always done

I'm writing an extensive diary in the hope that the schoolchildren of 2080 will be forced to read it and just the merest mention of my name will make them mutter 'fuck's sake', just like they do when you mention Peig.

MissClementine · 05/04/2020 20:48

Yes I’ve been keeping a journal for about 3 weeks now expressing my feelings, what is happening around the world and general news of the day.

My dd have me a journal\book for mothers day.
Now it it my corona virus diary.I kept a diary when the dcs were small and I feel that I will look back on the years to come at it.I am also keeping any letters or newspapers relating to it.

heidihigh · 05/04/2020 20:55

Me! I have been keeping a diary of sorts, nothing major, just a few sentences a day about how I'm feeling and what's going on. It will be interesting to look back on, I think, and also helps me to see how far we've come and how every day is a day closer to some form of "normal".

Travelban · 05/04/2020 20:58

I have been doing a mixture of things. Diary entries now and then, photos and every weekend some interviews to the kids - how they are feeling, what they have been doing... Just short clips but I thought they will appreciate them one day!!

Natsku · 05/04/2020 20:59

I've started keeping a diary. Also gave DD a notebook to keep a diary too but she just writes in it each day 'today was boring, I'm hungry, I want to go to bed' - I'm sure her children and grandchildren will be fascinated by it!

undercoveraessedai · 05/04/2020 21:00

Yep, photos, morning pages and evening journal - but those are all normal daily things for me, it'll just be interesting to see how it changes as this situation pans out!

noideaatallreally · 05/04/2020 21:01

I'm doing one photo a day.

Powerof4 · 05/04/2020 21:02

I’m doing photos of stuff we’re doing too. My dd is 4 so I think she’ll be interested in a few years to see what we did during lockdown.

Burplecutter · 05/04/2020 21:08

I'm just gonna steal perfect pictures of kids crafts off all the perfect homeschool mums and pretend I didn't just survive the hell out of it with screens galore while I worked from home.
Or we will just look at the normal photos we take when she's older and have a few sentences worth of "hey mum remember when my birthday was cancelled and I didn't go to school for months" then I'll reply about the virus etc. And all of her GCSE subjects will contain a Corona pandemic question of some sort.

Snozzlemaid · 05/04/2020 21:11

I bought myself a five year diary from Waterstones at the beginning of March. Total coincidence, but I'm so glad I did so I can document this time. It's just a couple of sentences each day.

MondeoFan · 05/04/2020 21:15

Yes I take a photo everyday of what we are up to plus I have one of those 5 year diaries not sure if anyone has one but you only need to write a couple sentences per day, so far I've kept up with it the past 4 years as I don't have to write much at all.

undercoveraessedai · 05/04/2020 22:36

@MondeoFan yes! I did one between my 25th and 30th birthdays and started another one August 2018 when I went full time self employed :) it's lovely seeing what happened same day in past years!

DrCoconut · 06/04/2020 00:20

Me too ViciousJackdaw. I'm imagining the poor things having to write a tedious essay on what I might have been thinking when I wrote page 6 or something Grin

girlicorne · 06/04/2020 00:40

My children (10 and 12) are doing a diary every day. It’s part of DS10 set schoolwork. It is interesting reading it from their point of view.

Theflushedzebra · 06/04/2020 00:54

I've been keeping a diary since Friday 13th March. I've never kept a diary in my life - but I just needed to do something for my sanity, to get my feelings down - a mixture of feelings, what I did that day, and the day's news. I think it'll be interesting to look back on, things are moving so fast.

FearlessSwiftie · 06/04/2020 06:43

I take everyday pictures about our lockdown time. Maybe it is not something exciting but I hope to make a slideshow out of them to give everyone a good laugh. Bet we will need it!

Nquartz · 06/04/2020 06:48

We take a lot of photos anyway so still taking them & some videos.

I saw an idea on Facebook (I think) to make a time capsule but we've run out of printer ink so can't print but thought that was a good idea.

I'm posting stuff on Facebook which will come up on time hop/memories but I'd prefer something physical/tangible to show DD when she's older (she's 8 so I think she'll remember though) & her kids if she has them
