Matt Hancock has been flouting the rules and travelling to his second home then!

He wrapped it up quickly didn't he?

PicsInRed · 05/04/2020 17:04

Seems likely. Flouting lockdown is probably as widespread in Westminster as coronavirus itself.

If that's the case, they lose the UK middle, lockdown will fail and I guess we're going to ride the herd immunity coaster.

Bringonspring · 05/04/2020 17:06

I actually think his doing a good job

LibrettoCornetto · 05/04/2020 17:06

Why wouldn't be just say "No, Dr H and I have not travelled to our other homes"?

Royals off to one of their many homes; top politicians off to theirs.

Do as I say, not what I do. FFS.

Nicely avoided 🤣

PicsInRed · 05/04/2020 17:12

Well I think we can get an idea of how UK society will change at the end of this.

The fury of the peasants at their "betters" Hmm will be tremendous by the end of this. I'm thinking WW1 level pissed.

LittleSweet · 05/04/2020 17:15

He's gone for work with other world leaders. Not the same as Prince Charles going to his second home with cv...

nettie434 · 05/04/2020 17:15

Surely he had to be diplomatic? Health is a devolved matter so Dr Calderwood is answerable to Nicola Sturgeon. He could not give an opinion as it it would be too contentious. Really shocked that she did this though. I would not be surprised if she had to resign.

HT96 · 05/04/2020 17:19

Scotlands chief medical officer did the same for the past 2 weekends!! Travelled 50 miles to her second home...

pocketem · 05/04/2020 17:25

Paris was the name of the journalist who asked the question

DarnedSocks · 05/04/2020 17:25

Hasn't everyone been saying how much better equipped London's hospitals are to deal with this. Seems the politicians and celebs disagree.

Growingboys · 05/04/2020 17:26

I think Hancock is doing a good job. Some on the left seem to want him to fail - cutting off your Jose to spite your face?

Growingboys · 05/04/2020 17:26

Nose!

LibrettoCornetto · 05/04/2020 17:39

pocketum, yes, I know.

I think Hancock is doing a good job.

Secretary of State for Health is a difficult job even in ordinary circumstances because the NHS is always high on voters' priority list. I agree Growingboys that he comes across well. It's important to hold him to account but we must all hope that he gets this right. Lives are more important than party politics.

News reports say Dr Calderwood will remain in post but have no further public role. I am still surprised she did not resign but perhaps they were worried it was not the time to have a new CMO for Scotland
