'F&£k off cyclists and multiple punctures'

Went out for a cycle ride today, cycled from our own home on a short circuit, away from popular walking spots and along main roads. On a road with mainly business buildings and a few houses - but on a main road - someone had tied a sign saying 'f£&@ off cyclists'. Just past it I got a puncture. As did. two other cyclists up in front of us.

Of course, could just be coincidence, couldn't find any tacks or anything on the road.

  1. we were not breaking any rules, had chosen a responsible route and the sign itself was very upsetting.
  2. IF anyone had laid anything to deter cyclists, the long walk back with bikes meant we were outside way way longer than we needed to.

Why do people think it's ok to make up their own rules?

I cycle too and from work daily as a key worker. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for something like this as wouldn't put it past some people.
Move also noted coming home at 10pm with quiet roads lots of boy racers about in the city, was a pretty scary ride home last nightAngry

That must have been scary @ch3rrycola . I know some people think that we shouldn't be out once a day exercising, even though it's allowed - but the healthier our lungs the better at the moment. Nasty signs and worse are so unnecessary.

We're hated most of the time! Def could do without more hate. Hope you get your tyre sorted ok

Sadly this happens a lot, I've been lucky it hasn't happened to me, but there are a lot of people out there who hate cyclists (which is also where part of the stricter lockdown venom comes from). Hope you are ok OP..

I was a bit shaken by the blown tyre and the sign upset me. I'd even had strong words with DH about not going too far and staying very local so annoyed that people see fit to make a stand against what is allowed . There's acting responsibly and then there's taking the law into your own hands. Those people are just as bad as those breaking the rules IMO.
