Another victim of coronavirus.

What a character he was.

I was sad to read this 😞

AuntieMarys · 05/04/2020 16:36

Was he the one with all the women?

diddl · 05/04/2020 16:39

Yes he was, "Auntie".

DobbyTheHouseElk · 05/04/2020 16:40

His wifelets.

That’s so sad. He was a real character.

Teddypops · 05/04/2020 16:41

He had lots of wifelets

HairyToity · 05/04/2020 16:43

I heard he was quite unpleasant in real life. He lived a good life and a big age.

GreyGardens88 · 05/04/2020 16:44

Another Cheltenham victim?

MrsSnitchnose · 05/04/2020 16:47

Aww, makes me sad. I used to love watching the program on Longleat

MissCherryCakeyBun · 05/04/2020 16:52

So sad Sad

diddl · 05/04/2020 16:55

"Another Cheltenham victim?"

No idea-why would you think that?

leckford · 05/04/2020 16:58

We went to Longleat before the lockdown, the house is amazing and historic. Well worth going to see, but not for young children. However the safari park etc is supposed to be good

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 05/04/2020 17:01

Oh no, bless him, silly old sod he was, but somehow still very likeable anyway. Not sure why this has mad me sadder than it should have. RIP Loins of Longleat.

Windyatthebeach · 05/04/2020 17:01

Been to the safari Park and house twice - both with dc. We had a fab 2 day trip both times.

Boudicabooandbulldogs · 05/04/2020 17:13

Such a character, 😞

diddl · 05/04/2020 17:13

"I heard he was quite unpleasant in real life."

"but somehow still very likeable anyway"

I can well imagine that he had a public persona & was quite different privately.

I didn't know him but somehow it seems more relateable than other strangers deaths?

No idea why-like the ubiquitous eccentric family member that everyone has?

Didn’t he and his wife have an issue with their son marrying Emma Weymouth ( Of Strictly fame) because she was mixed race.

diddl · 05/04/2020 18:18

Supposedly father & son fell out because the son removed some of his dad's murals from Longleat.

That wouldn't explain why his mother also wasn't there though!

maddiemookins16mum · 05/04/2020 19:10

He snubbed his own Sons wedding because he married Emma who is mixed race.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 05/04/2020 21:58

He snubbed his own Sons wedding because he married Emma who is mixed race He absolutely did not. He didn’t attend the wedding solely because he had fallen out with his son over changes he made to the house, Longleat, mainly (and understandably) removal of murals painted by Lord Bath that were a bit, er, excessively liberal shall we say? Emma’s MIL, Anna Gael (long separated from Lord Bath) was the one who was banned from the wedding and seeing the grandchildren because of repeated disgusting racist remarks. But not Lord Bath, absolutely nothing to do with him.

picklemewalnuts · 05/04/2020 22:18

I think the wifelets and the lack of interest in his grandchild suggest he was an unpleasant man. I feel very sorry for his son.
