I need a plumber

No working sink downstairs for over two weeks - we only have 2 in the whole house.
It's making everything from hygiene to cooking very hard.
We've tried to fix it ourselves and nothing's worked.
However I'm really nervous about having someone else in the house who will have been in contact with lots of others.
What would you do?

I would phone a plumber.
They won’t be wanting to come within 2 M of you either so just open the door and let them in, point them in the right direction and leave them to it. Have the windows open, pay by bank transfer/PayPal and wipe everything down when they have gone.

My neighbour had a plumber on Friday. She had explained the problem by phone, and sent him photos in advance. He kept good distance, she paid by bank transfer, cleaned the bathroom/wiped down door handles etc after he left, and unlike a normal situation with tradesmen, he did not drink multiple cups of tea when he was there!

Thank you for this. We didn't do a call out at first as we were too worried. Now I think it's stopping us managing hygiene in the house.
I've decided the plumber could come In at the back so only in the kitchen and husband can stay out of the way upstairs and I'll get ready to do a thorough clean.
