Stupid question, but are we all expected to get it at some point?

After quarantine and things get more back to normal the virus will obviously still be about, yes?
So will people still get it but in smaller numbers?
I understand quarantine is to stop too many people getting it so as not to overwhelm hospitals, but what exactly is going to happen when we are allowed out again?

Keepdistance we're going to need other strategies as well, such as more testing, deep cleaning of public spaces, stricter control of flights, etc etc. The plan isn't to have a national caronavirus party.

Without a vaccine I would have thought nearly everyone would get it at some point. Before vaccinations most children caught the usual illnesses - I had the full series of mumps, chicken pox, measles and rubella before having the rubella vaccine when I was 12.

It’s really infectious. I think about 1/3 people I know have it, even though they’ve all been really careful I don't know anyone personally who's had it. I met a lady last week (on a video call before you shout at me!) whose student son has it, but nobody else.

I've heard of a few people who has had to it, friends of friends.
I work in a special school which has remained closed and probably won't reopen until the end of August. I worry about the pupils catching it when we re-open.

I think I have just had it - and it would be what would be termed a mild version but it knocked me out for a week, got breathless doing anything other than sitting down and now my lungs are better realised how much better they feel. DD had mild as well but coughed so much for 3 days I was really concerned (and had tight chest as well). DS just had mild sore throat. Still waiting for DH unless he is asymptomatic
