Scared of a runny nose!

At about 9pm last night I developed a very slight runny nose. That’s the only symptom I have and it’s still only slightly runny. My DC have had coughs/ runny noses for the past 2 weeks. I’ve managed to convince myself that this is coronavirus and feel so scared. I’m anxious anyway but this has tipped me over the edge. I’m lying in bed at home 3am terrified of a runny nose.

The warmer weather his kicked off allergies. My nose and eyes were awful last night. Try some antihistamines for you and your kids.

I don’t tend to get allergies but thank you for the suggestion. I wonder if there are still bog standard colds doing the rounds?

Runny nose isn’t a common symptom and yes, normal colds haven’t vanished.

Runny noses can cause a cough as mucus runs down the back of your throat (post nasal drip) speak to a pharmacist they’ll probably recommend a antihistamine.

Unless you’ve got temp and a new cough it’s either a virus or an allergy. Allergies can develop at any age.

Hopefully it’s just a cold then but in the back of my mind there is the nagging doubt that what if it isn’t just a cold and what if I get really sick or die? I can’t cope with the fear of that. I do know I am massively catastrophising. I don’t seem to know how to stop.

You’ll be fine. I’m sure it’s just the cold your DC have had.
