Supermarket priority slots..

Orangeblossom78 · 04/04/2020 19:04

Hi, we had an email today from Asda supermarket saying we have a priority pass due to DH (on immune meds)- I registered him on the gov.uk website last week but we've not had a letter.

Anyway it says something about other supermarkets may contact us too but we have to just choose one. Don't usually use Asda but think they have details due to using for my parents as near to them.

Just wondered what other had, in terms of this do other ones contact you too? Thanks.

I have had emails from Tesco and Asda

Fraggle45 · 04/04/2020 19:09

I've had an email too and got a recurring slot booked with Asda from 17th once a week

We usually use Tesco but didn't think it made sense to refuse it as haven't heard from Tesco

Are Asda generally ok?

Orangeblossom78 · 04/04/2020 19:16

I'm not sure, whether to hold out for a different one or go with Asda.. I can't even think where nearest one is to be honest. usually use Waitrose but they haven't contacted us. Asda says can have a weekly time / slot reserved which sounds useful

With Asda you need to use the website not the app to get the weekly slot

Our first one available wasn't until 17th though which was a shame but we'll manage until then

LittleLittleLittle · 04/04/2020 19:18

Asda can do some weird substitutions so your best bet is going through your order and unchecking exactly what you refuse to substitute before checking out.

LittleLittleLittle · 04/04/2020 19:18

@Fraggle45 I used the app this afternoon to get a recurring slot.

Fraggle45 · 05/04/2020 07:36

I've just been on Sainsbury's and can get a slot for every day this week but no email from them

Has anyone heard from Tesco yet?

Sosososotired · 05/04/2020 07:39

DM has heard from Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda and went with Sainsbury’s. Tesco were the last to contact her I believe.

craftymadam · 05/04/2020 07:47

My DM has never shopped online, but has received the letter from the Government as she has heart problems, her and DDad are also both over 70. Can I ask how you got weekly delivery slots? I’ve tried to book a slot for them on my Tesco account and couldn’t get one at all in April! 😢 They have a Morrison’s card, and a Tesco Clubcard. Thanks

Fraggle45 · 05/04/2020 08:10

There's a form online that you fill out with their details including nhs number and if you they don't have anyone to help getting essential supplies you click no and that goes to the supermarkets

They do check the nhs number for the letter though which I'm very pleased about to stop others trying to access the service

I'll find a link for you

www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable

It took about 5 days for mine to be authorised

ArkAtEee · 05/04/2020 09:21

I've luckily got one from Asda too but we usually shop with Sainsbury's and have a delivery pass with them. I think I might give it a day or two before confirming with Asda in the hope we hear from Sainsbury's.

Orangeblossom78 · 05/04/2020 10:11

Well on Asda site it says there are no slots available even with the pass so nit sure of the point really Hmm

LittleLittleLittle · 05/04/2020 15:43

@Orangeblossom78 You need to check back at random times through the day and night.

Then when a slot comes up for a day and time you feel is OK book it as a weekly or biweekly recurring slot. Just make sure you complete your cart two full days before each delivery.

Orangeblossom78 · 05/04/2020 15:59

Ok, thanks Flowers

Look after the 17th there should be slots then as they aren't released to others yet

Babyroobs · 05/04/2020 16:56

I've been wondering about this. My dh is on the list who has been advised to stay in for 12 weeks. He says he has registered on the GOV. uk site but this was only a few days ago so I'm hoping we can get a slot soon. I am currently having to go out more frequently than I feel comfortable doing due to having four teenagers and having to shop for my elderly dad. An online delivery slot would help enormously, have been trying for days to get one.

daisybrown37 · 05/04/2020 16:58

I got an email from Tesco on Friday. Was surprised as I have a vulnerable child but not an extremely vulnerable one - so didn’t think we would be priority and had not registered anywhere because of this. Managed to get a slot for 24 April, but luckily had prebooked slots up to next Saturday, so only a two week gap to get around.

Orangeblossom78 · 05/04/2020 17:00

First seems to be the 19th here (sigh)

Everytimeref · 05/04/2020 17:01

My dad has been told he has been classed as vulnerable by sainsbury and there was some slots available but he wasn't quick enough to get them and now they are gone. If a slot appears can get just fill in some random things then sort out the requirements later?

Peanut55 · 05/04/2020 17:06

I wouldn't hold out for your favourite supermarket. Just book the first slot you can. You may end up without shopping for weeks if you wait for your favourite.

It's not forever, it's just for isolation.

Orangeblossom78 · 05/04/2020 17:13

Well, there aren't any slots for weeks anyway so maybe will see what happens in the meantime. there are some local places nearby perhaps like veg shop in the meantime

Peanut55 · 05/04/2020 17:15

Do keep checking Asda randomly. They are adding more slots I believe

Mimilamore · 05/04/2020 17:25

My husband got an offer of a priority slot with Tesco yesterday so I logged him in and we made an order.
I didn't choose it, it was allocated for today between 12 and 2.
So far no show, on the site it says it has been collected ( I assume this is by delivery driver and the money has gone from account... waiting game now I guess.

Fraggle45 · 05/04/2020 21:49

Is Tesco offering weekly slots? I haven't had an email from then so have set up ASDA
