Football season idea

Someone’s probably already considered it and very likely be loads of problems organising but....surely the technology is available to finish some of the football season virtually just like the grand national earlier today? Matches that are left could be “played” resulting in teams being promoted and relegated. Matches could be shown on a variety of channels including freeview. Very likely be shot down for such a suggestion but just an idea!

Why don't they just finish it as it is? Liverpool had already won it anyway.

CKBJ · 04/04/2020 18:39

True, but then you have the relegation battle. Arguably not important in the scheme of things.

Don't relegate anyone, promote Leeds or whoever it was at the top of the Championship and have more games next season.

It's been done by me.

So you mean played virtually by computerised players? So not the actual real players?

pocketem · 04/04/2020 19:19

Two of the lower division teams already did this, simulating a game between them on Football Manager with each team's twitter account providing live commentary as if it were real

Man city and Leicester city also had a game of noughts and crosses

CKBJ · 04/04/2020 19:22

Yes Morgan12 not actual real players, just like the grand national today not real horses.

This would be exceptionally unfair to any team relegated on the basis of a virtual game. It’s effectively a big game of fifa to decide a clubs future which has massive financial implications.

The virtual grand national was fun but just that, to do this in the premier league could spell disaster for a team that had a good chance of staying up!
