I am fuming. I haven't seen my son [27] since before lockdown.
And our nextdoor neighbours have their adult children and grandchildren in their garden!!!
What don't they understand about 'Don't visit family or friends who don't live with you" ????

If the bloody football comes over the fence they're not having it back. Angry

@checkedcloth

Thank you. Our son's girlfriend is a nurse on a Covid ward - without protective equipment. Thank you for all you are doing. At least I, and a lot of others on here, are doing what we can too. Flowers

Goodness me, I wish there was something decent on TV to distract people from curtain twitching and judging other people.

Soontobe60 · 04/04/2020 14:30

Just pop out and shout over the fence "are you not bothering to self isolate today?"

iCorona · 04/04/2020 14:31

I’d report because I’m bitter.
I desperately want to go out but I’m following the rules. The reason the rules have to be so strict is so the likes of me can make up for the dickish behaviour of people like your neighbour. So basically my life and my kids life’s are shit at the moment so other people can do what they like. Told you, I’m very bitter.

Parker231 · 04/04/2020 14:31

@IrisAtwood - what’s wrong with judging idiots risking other people’s lives?

Redwoodmaz · 04/04/2020 14:31

@MaxNormal
Thank you.

I bet you'll get lots of people saying it's none of your business, are you the Covid police, and other comments. Brace yourself!

I would go so far as to say it is everybody's duty to join the Covid police. Should we all not be doing our bit? Shouldn't we ALL take responsibility? Has Boris called a lockdown just for fun, so he can run along Downing Street naked without being seen? No, he hasn't.

1forsorrow · 04/04/2020 14:32

Carbosug the problem is alot of the people telling everyone off are getting it wrong. I was called names a few days ago because I was saying my husband couldn't get out for exercise unless we use the car, not relevant at the moment as he is SI but for the future. I explained I live on a steep hill, we have no pavements, my husband is disabled. If we drive 200 metres up the road there is a flat area where he could walk. Oh no, I'd be killing millions if I did that, who did I think I fucking was etc etc. Well now we have been told by the govt that driving a short distance eg. a 5 minute drive, to go for exercise is fine. So sometimes the teacher's pet gets it wrong.

fussychica · 04/04/2020 14:32

To all those on this thread who have berated the OP and think her neighbours behaviour is fine despite the guidance and testimonies of nurses and doctors dealing directly with this everyday, its obvious your stupidity and selfishness knows no bounds.

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 14:33

Mumsnet is awash with those who struggle to play by the rules, either that or there’s a lot of wind up merchants on these threads.

STAY HOME YOU MORONIC FUCKERS!!!!

lazyarse123 · 04/04/2020 14:34

What part of no unnecessary travel are they not getting as well as ixing households. I work in a food shop and would be seriously fucked off if I were op.

izzywizzygood · 04/04/2020 14:34

I'm staying in, I'm not seeing people. It's annoying when the people we are trying to save are out having fun whilst we are indoors. Same for the elderly people having a barbecue on another thread.

1forsorrow · 04/04/2020 14:34

The reason the rules have to be so strict is so the likes of me can make up for the dickish behaviour of people like your neighbour No the rules have to be so strict because the govt let The Cheltenham Festival, Crufts, half marathons, sports events and music concerts go on 3 weeks ago. Add it up the incubation period, the period of sickness before you go into hospital, the period before you are critical.

TheStuffedPenguin · 04/04/2020 14:35

Perfectly said @Wehttam.

TheFairyCaravan · 04/04/2020 14:35

@Alsohuman it's people like you who are putting the rest of us at risk. It is not fine to meet up with others and stay 2 metres apart. People are dying in hospital alone. A 13 yo was buried without his family at his funeral, no one was there. My son and his colleagues are working flat out, they don't have the correct PPE and they're dying too. Just do as you're asked and stay the fuck in. Please.

GoofyLuce · 04/04/2020 14:36

The OP is not curtain twitching. She's having a moan on mumsnet and she's quite entitled to do that.

OP I completely agree with you. My family are strictly sticking to this lockdown. We are missing our family terribly and are having to have limited video calls as it upsets my toddler because he doesn't understand why he can't go to see his family. People ignoring the rules is making my fucking blood boil.

All of the posters on here saying that it's 'not too bad' are fucking deluded. Well see in a few weeks time shall we Angry

GertiMJN · 04/04/2020 14:38

Devlesko

I don't care what others do tbh, their funeral.

Say that at the funeral of a medical professional who died as a result of their work with covid19 patients.

Just like people who drink and drive, the issue is that its a risk to other people's lives.
People like checkedcloth who may end up caring for them, or someone they infected elsewhere.

Medical staff are dieing ffs and don't have the luxury of sitting happily in their gardens away from this horrendous virus.

I dispair of the stupidity and selfishness of some people.

pigsDOfly · 04/04/2020 14:39

I don't care what others do tbh, their funeral.

Ah well, that's where you're wrong. It could be your funeral, or the funeral of someone you love if people like that don't stick to the rules and just go on mixing with their friends and families.

I have no idea what other people around me are doing, but it's bloody annoying to know that some people are behaving like idiots and carrying on doing exactly as they like.

If they want to kill themselves that's up to them, but I don't want them killing me and mine while they're about it.

cologne4711 · 04/04/2020 14:40

No the rules have to be so strict because the govt let The Cheltenham Festival, Crufts, half marathons, sports events and music concerts go on 3 weeks ago

Quite. One day, it was fine to have the Liverpool half marathon and a schools' cross-country event go on in city (with around 2000 kids from all over the country, not sure about the half marathon). The next day England Athletics put out guidance banning all activity.

There should have been a gradual ramping down of activity, not a sudden, yesterday it was ok, today you will kill millions, approach.

IrisAtwood · 04/04/2020 14:41

Other people are responsible for their behaviour and you are responsible for yours.

We have all been told what the risks are and we have been told how to behave to keep ourselves and others safe.

Sitting at home stewing about other peoples’ selfish behaviour and poor judgement and posting about it on MN achieves nothing other than getting yourself upset and encouraging a horrible atmosphere of spying on and labelling others as ‘the problem’.

We don’t need Neighbourhood Enforcers. We do need more kindness.

mencken · 04/04/2020 14:42

it is such a pity that this virus does not only infect the stupid. It would do the species so much good.

mencken · 04/04/2020 14:43

and unfortunately selfish fuckwits like the OPs neighbours ARE affecting everyone else. We will probably all end up not being allowed to leave our own properties. They've got a garden - but many don't.

ViciousJackdaw · 04/04/2020 14:43

We do need more kindness

Of course we do, that's without question but it's bloody difficult to remain kind when we are following the rules and others are blatantly disregarding them.

IrisAtwood · 04/04/2020 14:43

And the point of the current guidelines is to flatten the curve. On average 99% of people survive Covid-19 so getting upset that people having visitors next door is going to kill you and yours is a little over the top.

Nonnymum · 04/04/2020 14:45

bluewafflewithmayo
That was nasty and uncalled for. Did you read checkedcloth Post. For her sake and for the sake of all front line workers we all need to follow the guidelines. One danger with this virus is people can have it be passing it on without knowing. People are dying it's not a joke or a game.
