Looking after kids and WFH - how are you actually doing it?

Because it's a total disaster for us. We've theee DCs, 5,3 and 1 and we're both quite senior in our roles - we normally do quite intense12 hour days and our responsibilities and the pace of work have only increased with Coronavirus. Most of our work peers and our bosses seem to have partners (lets be honest wives) who don't work. There is no let up at all (ie I am expected to dial into calls when I am on my shift to look after the kids). DH and I are managing 4-5 hours sleep a night and are still doing a horrible job with the kids and are way behind at work. On the other hand there will absolutely be redundancies at both our jobs when this is over so any step back now will count against us. DH has already been told his "guaranteed" (sadly not in the contractual sense) promotion which was supposed to take effect this week has been pulled. How is everyone else coping ?

We’re getting by at present. Dh’s work haven’t sorted out his wfh access yet. This is the end of week 2 for us. He’s not key staff so is on paid leave until they sort it.

We’ve got two under 3 (ds 2.5 and dd 8m) so dh is doing the bulk of the childcare. I can’t find a quiet space to work. It’s hell.

Dh is key worker so out of the house 7-6 on weekdays. My day is pretty much like Dolly's here except I finish at midnight. Am exhausted and not getting a lot done.

By quietly crying into a glass of wine each night.

But according to other threads here we should be grateful for all the extra time with our kids. 🙄
