Just feeling anxious.
4 yo was ill start of march with a fever but this cough has gone on and on. Probably 3w now. Generally ok in the day.
Just worrying as I started to feel a tickly cough coming and now dh thinks he has a sore throat.
We havent even been out in weeks and thought we were out of the contagious period if dd did have it as that started 4w ago. If not 5 now. But as we havent been out it can't really be anything else.
Just worrying and hate this virus so much. Because you start to think you are ok then something sets off the worry again

It could be hayfever OP. DS suffers and while he can deal.with it during the day, at night it is a trickle down his throat and a cough that, though really annoying, is harmless.

I find a dose of antihistamine before bed helps.

Mild asthma can also exhibit as a night time cough.

Sounds like an asthmatic cough. At least, night-time coughing is my major symptom, I'm on a lot of medication for asthma. I find I am ok 90% of the time but deteriorate dreadfully & very quickly in response to pollen, when I get a cold, etc. Antihistamines help, & I have to sleep fairly well propped up when I'm having a bad phase of coughing. Virtually sitting up, TBH. Also, plenty of drinks help, it keeps the throat soothed.

My first thought is asthma. It's really common to cause a cough at night

Keepdistance · 04/04/2020 23:48

I have considered asthma before.
This is the first time the cough has continued so long and persistently. Normally improves with olbas oil.

Just not sure if it's become a chest infection.

Dp was coughing a lot today.

My dd often has a cough that goes on for weeks usually following a cold. I've had get checked by the doctors a few times in the past and always been told it's upper respiratory and fine. It's hard not to worry at the moment but it's quite possible she just has a general cough and not cv. All you can do is keep an eye on her breathing/temp. Fingers crossed she improves.

This is how my son’s asthma started. Speak you your GP.

WeLovePeaSoup · 05/04/2020 00:04

My DD had a persistent cough and we went to the doctor and she said it’s asthma. My DD got an inhaler and within 3 weeks the cough was gone totally. I would call up the surgery if I were you and speak to someone and hopefully they could see her and give her a pump. Good luck
