Just realised that the Gov giving the supermarkets my details won’t help, because...

I use a dedicated ‘shopping’ email account for all online shopping due to all the advertising and spam. This is not my main email address that I gave the Gov’t website.

I don’t use my real date of birth on any website, I pick a totally random one every time.

And, the kicker. Since marrying a long time ago I have different versions of my surname all over the place.

Ah well. JustEat deliveries it is!

The only triangulation they could do is my first name and my address. Presumably nothing else will match.

Could you sign up as a new customer with your real details?

Zacromagnons · 04/04/2020 00:10

I hadn’t even considered that 😂 Thank you, I’ll do that tomorrow.

My mum always told me I was very intelligent but had no common sense...

I couldn’t sign up to Sainsburys as a new costumer as it said they weren’t letting anyone new sign up, not sure if that’s the case for all supermarkets

ElizabethMainwaring · 04/04/2020 00:17

Yes, no one is taking new customers.
Your best bet is to phone them. It will take forever though.

ElizabethMainwaring · 04/04/2020 00:19

Go into your account and see if you can update (correct) your details. I'm sure that that is possible.

PumpkinP · 04/04/2020 00:29

Thank you ElizabethMainwaring I didn’t think of doing that myself, I’ve just changed my name on Sainsburys (it’s dd that’s extremely vulnerable) and now have access to the slots and there is loads available!

Zacromagnons · 04/04/2020 10:02

I changed my email address on Asda and Waitrose but it didn’t seem to make a difference to the availability of slots - all still full up!

If they had told us on the Gov sign up page to use the same details we use for online grocery shopping it would have been much easier. I wonder how many others are in a similar position. It’s not unusual to have different emails for online shopping and I’m sure not everyone gives out their real DOB all over the place.

Hello again @Zacromagnons. I think that they go by your name and address chiefly.
I heard from ASDA today confirming that my husband is prioritised, but the account is in my name and not his.
